I have vaginal varicosis and am delivering our second child very soon. Has anyone had any experience with this? My doctor does not seem that concerned about them. I just worry that they are so big right now they might explode during delivery!!
And, do they go away after you gove birth? I have read many different things and my doc says they will remain. I just want to feel normal down there again.
Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

my mother has the really bad kind where the veins are pretty swollen. She has the veins on her legs and in the pelvic area. My mother is 65 and they are now starting to dry out. She did see a surgeon but the Doctor told her that she is not a candidate for surgery. My mom also would complain of pain especially during her menstrual period (in her younger yrs of course.) Good luck and and seek a second opinion.

I had them with both pregnancies and they did go back to normal after delivery. I have not heard of any particular concern about them bursting during delivery. As long as your doc is aware of them and not concerned, I wouldn't worry about it. I have had a few times over the years when they have swollen (after I finished having children), but it lasted for less than a day and was a minimal concern. Good luck. Cool packs help with the discomfort. After the birth of my first child i kept ice packs down there off and on for the first 2-3 days.

I had the exact same thing. I was so freaked out because I did not have them with my first son. I had my baby on April 29th and I am happy to report that they did not explode and I am completely back to normal "down there". Good Luck!

I had them with my 3rd child, mine did rupture. It was a quick response with my doctor and he got them burned back together and they went away shortly after he was born. I have no trouble since
When I had my twins I got them both in the leg and the vaginal area. No problems during the vaginal delivery. They hurt while pregnant but after I delivered they stopped hurting. The vaginal one went away, but the one on my left leg by my knee still has not gone away. I went on bed rest at 27 weeks so I didn't do much about them.
In my next pregnancy they came back along with the pain. If they are bothering you ask your doctor to prescribe compression hose. You can buy compression hose at Maternity Stores, but they are not as effective as the prescribed ones. You put them on before you get out of bed-it makes such a difference. I went from feeling like my legs were filled with lead, to just feeling pregnant! My energy level also increased-I guess because of the better circulation.
I have one in my vaginal area. It apperead during my fourth pregnancy and has remained since. It shrinks to where I can barely see it when not pregnant but grew larger again with the increased blood flow of my fifth pregnancy. My doctor never even mentioned mine, so I am assuming there was no concern. It is still there. I can feel it but can barely see it.
I have a friend who had them cover every inch of her legs during pregnancy, literally. She had them with each pregnancy and had 8 pregnancies. They were painful, but went away once she had the baby. At least that was what she told me. So, my assumption is that some go away, and some don't.
