I agree with the other listings and, under different circumstances, I would try FSBO but, YOU, essentially would be the only one showing the home, after August, should the home not sell by then. When would you have time to do that??? I probably wouldn't move out either - just wait it out. You will need to stage your home to remove/pack/give away as much stuff as you possibly can, then paint and repair anything before you get it on the market. Years ago, when my daughter was 4, we were selling our home and SHE was heavily into the "Barbie" toy stage. Make your life easier and make some of the toys go away. My husband and I (and two other in-laws) just went through this last year, with my mother-in-law's home. For a year we cleaned out her old home, (rented a dumpster) painted, renovated the home. We put about $5.000 into the home. We considered FSBO but finally decided to put it on the market with 60+ homes in the price range and, within 2 months the home sold and closed and we got the price we were happy with. It was shocking - there had already been some homes on the market for 9 months! We got lucky! The market is still too soft. Time is money, especially if your husband will be relocated by August. Realtors have access to a lot of advertising. Also....it's so nice your parents are supportive. Sure there input is biased - I'm sure they love you and the kids so much! You are lucky!
