Unique Slide-Out Bed

Hi Mammas!
I have this crazy idea of creating a platform stage in my little girl's room for her to dance and play dress-up. She doesn't have room for both a stage and a bed, so I'm looking for some kind of platform stage that is tall enough to fit a slide-out trundle bed drawer underneath for us to pull out at night. My husband is not a handyman at all, so I've been looking online to purchase something like this, but haven't had any luck. I've found lots of platform beds that allow a trundle underneath, but most have a lip around the edge or a headboard or just don't seem sturdy enough to use as a stage. Does anyone have any ideas on where I can find a platform like this? Or does anyone know a handyman that could build one for me?

Thanks in advance for all your help. Once I get an idea in my head, I can't stop obsessing about it!

What can I do next?

My husband is a handyman and has a wood shop. He is building a fort right now for our 5, soon to be 6 grandchildren in their big backyard. I have pictures if you need to see. He is getting ready today to help the almost 17 year old build 2 loft beds for him and his brother with desks, shelves and chest of drawers underneath. He can build just about any custom item. But where do you live? Call ###-###-####. We are in S. Arlington. His name is Tom.

why not just buy a bed that already has the trundle built under it and just not put the bed on top, put a solid piece of plywood or something instead and make that your stage. Then if you ever need to turn it into a bed for guests or something you can.

I agree look on craigs list and see if you can find someone to build a platform with rollers that lock. Then it can be pulled out and locked. then unlocked and pushed back in.

I suggest a handle so you pull on the handle and do not have to pull the actual platform.

Are the any homes being remodeled in your neighborhood. May times, the guys in construction know people that do handy work like this. Or your local hardware stores may have names on file.

If you bought the trundle bed part the stage would be very simple to build. I suggest going to lowes or home depot and asking them for ideas. They will tell you what you would need to do for free!! Then you can decide if you or a friend could do it yourself.

Remember things look bigger to kids than they really are. If you have a stage that is 2 or 3 ft. She may be happy with that. I remember as a child how much bigger rooms seemed than they really were. And once I grew up I realized how small the room really was. So don't think that you have to build a big stage for her.
