M.,
I myself just had a 2yr old birthday party for my daughter, and because of the weather, i was forced to find games kids could play indoors. However i think they'd work outside too. I brought construction paper, plain paper and crayons, and let the kids get creative. I also bought a few packs of those balloons that come with the rubber band on the end. That kept them busy for a while. Classic pin the tail on the donkey. Hope these ideas help you out.

All you need is a jumper!!!!! they wont want to do anything else. The two year olds won't really understand completly so I would use games that cater to the older children. potatoe sack race, water balloon toss, limbo, musical chairs, drawing contest ( they have to draw your son or daughter). trust me, if you get a jumper, you will not need alot of games.

We had our daughter's first and second birthday at the park. We had a bounce house, tug a war, potato sack races, wheel barrol races with parent partner, and regular races. Both times, she came home exhausted! Big day! We also had a photographer on site for the first 2 hours of the party for family pictures since both sides of the family would be together. It was great because we got pictures with everyone and then they all had the opportunity to take family pictures too.

Hi, M., I love planning parties, they are so much fun. I had a lady bug themed birthday party for my then 2 yr. old. We didn't have many games because the two year old mostly wanted to stay with their parents. I did have the children make their own construction paper lady bug hats, we glued on black dots. I also made a giant ladybug and played pin the dots on the lady bug. They liked that game. Throwing frisbees are fun, too and bubbles! lots of bubbles! I know my daughters love to color. You can put some butcher paper on a table with markers, stickers and crayons and let the kids draw whatever they want. It's a good keepsake, too. Have some small rubber balls out that you can purchase at Target or WalMart. I used to be a preschool teacher so fortunately I saved alot of patterns and stuff that I use for parties. Congrats on your second child. I have three girls. If you are interested in still staying home with them check out my website. The company I work for has provided me the opportunity to make an income at home and has provided me a healthier way of living. It is www.themomteam.com/michelleyoung Good Luck with your party and have fun!

Hi M. - I have twin boys, we had their 2nd birthday party last september. We bbq'd and had a bounce house. We also did this at La Mesita Park in La Mesa. We also had quite a few older kids. the bouncer was an absolute hit! Everyone loved it and even adults could play in it too. when the other kids arrived we told them the rules... no rough housing especially with little ones in there. My boys had a blast and actually cried when the company came and deflated it!

We also decided to take the presents home and let them open them at their leisure... a 2 yr old doesn't have the attention span to open every gift in front of everybody, and i'm sure your guests would understand!

Oh also, I made gift boxes for all the kids, each had bubbles, punching baloon balls, cars for boys, and plastic jewlery for boys in each. also play-do for age appropriate kids.

Good luck!

L.

instead f games have a few activities available and for the part favor give everyone sand toys at the start of the party. bubbles are perfect. get a couple of bubble machines from disney and just let them run the entire party. you can also in lieu of a cake bake cupcakes or small ind. cakes and let the kids decorate their own. that is always a hit with any age.

I was also going to say a bounce house. Also, one of our friends, for her daughter's 2 yr. party, got a parachute (you know, the colorful ones like they use at Gymboree) and did parachute games for the kids (hot popcorn with balls, parachute "rides" by pulling the kids) and the 2 yr olds LOVED it!

What about some type of search for items that are either found easily in the park or that you have hidden. I like the bubbles and all the activities you've gotten from people so far. IMO,a bounce house is questionable at this age, some kids LOVE them some HATE them. The big kids may intimidate the younger kids and there's a potential for someone to get hurt. The low-key stuff will be easier and may appeal to more kids at this age. Have fun!
