I have a friend who is pregnant with twin boys and is stroller shopping. She was hoping to find a dual stroller that would accommodate the car seats as well. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks!

I don't own one myself, just wanted to reinforce about the Graco Duo Glider- VERY heavy, not at all the easiest to manuver. I was at the zoo with another family and helped them with their double (they needed it, the thing is a monster!) Just from appearance I like the Peg Perego one- I can't remember what it's called, but not the side by side one. It accomodates two carseats and you can have them either forward or backward facing. I've been looking myself, but not for twins, for my toddler and upcoming baby.

I agree with lighter being better. After my twins were born I had the duo glider-- but my wrists had carpel tunnel so it was VERY challenging because it was heavy. It also felt like I was driving a train.

If I had to do it over I would by a dual snap and go when they are in the carriers. Once they are out of the carriers, I recommend the Combi Twin Saavy. It is light and there are cup holders in the front for snacks etc. That is what we switched to and we love it.

If she just wants a car seat stroller, she could get a double Snap N Go (they're made by Baby Trend). I love my single one. Then she can take the time to figure out what really works for her before investing in something really expensive and finding out it's not for her (I have a $250.00 stroller for when our son outgrows his car seat that my husband and I both hate but we spent all that money on it, so now we feel stuck with it.)

I don't have twins, but I do have two that need to still ride in a stroller.

I LOVE my Bob Revolution Duallie. Not sure why the other Mom said it didn't fit through doors, I don't have any problems with it as it fits through most single doors and I can usually steer it through with one hand. Occasionally I bump sides, but it does fit.

Like another Mom also suggested, she should buy a stroller that she will absolutely love for the next 3-4 years and that fits her family's lifestyle.

For us the regular double strollers just wouldn't cut it. We originally had a Graco DuoGlider that I got used. HATED IT! The wheels always got stuck in the concrete cracks.

But since we are an active, outdoorsy type of family, the Bob is awesome! Those wheels ride over everything. We have taken it to the beach a lot and with a little extra effort it rolls over the sand. So we just pile everything onto the BOB and the kids walk onto the beach (they are 1 and 3). We have taken it camping and I use it as my everyday stroller.

True, it is quite expensive and kind of heavy. But I didn't find it any heavier to left than the Graco Duo Glider. And given that it folds in half and you pick it up in the middle, it makes it easier for me to hoist into the car (we have a minivan). I have also used it in a Highlander and my sisters small Mazda 6 and our Camry.

We bought ours at REI.com and had them free ship it to our local store. Usually around January, Labor Day and Memorial Day they have the Bobs on sale for 20% off. The Duallies usually run about $525, we got ours for $104 off the regular price.

My good friend has most of the double strollers mentioned here. She thought they were okay. THEN she drove her two kids in my Duallie and fell in love! Now with Baby #3, a 3 yo, and a 4 yo, she is thinking of getting it too.

I would also go to a place like USA Baby and test drive all the different strollers before deciding. I did that and decided on the Bob.

Also another good thing about the Bob, is the lifetime guarantee. I have had a few of the screws fall off and I called the 800 number and they sent out the replacement parts right away at no charge. And the customer service people were really efficient and very nice.

Good Luck!

I purchased mine from Babies R Us, it's a grayco and the infant car seat popped right in it. My girls are 21 mos. now & we still use it. I'd like to find a twin sturdy umbrella stroller for the lighter strolling, but my stroller has worked great for us!

Hi,

I have 4 month old twin daughters. A friend gave me the Contours Twin stroller by Kolcraft. I LOVE it. It only comes with one carseat adapter but you can order a second one. I personally do not use the carseats with the stroller because I prefer to have them sit in the stroller itself. The seats snap in and out and rearrange so you can have the twins face forward, both face backward, or face each other. It's well made and rolls smoothly. I use it every single day.

I am a mom of twin girls that are now 4 1/2. My biggest recommendation would be to get something that is LIGHT!!! I had the duo glider and it was so heavy and difficult to maneuver, felt like I was driving a limo. Then we got the Eddie Bauer which I liked because the girls could either both face forward or face each other. But it too was extremely heavy to get in and out of the car and difficult to maneuver. Then I got the little Jeep side-by-side thinking the "umbrella" stroller for twins would be easier. Though it was lighter, it was still pretty heavy and cumbersome. I also had single strollers that my husband and I could push around seperately which would be much easier to maneuver than the two tandem or side by side. And then the single umbrella strollers for the same reason, plus they were lighter.

Then I happened to be shopping at Toys R Us and saw a man with the Combi Twin Saavy and fell in LOVE! When I asked him about it, he man was so cute, he fully demonstrated the stroller for me as if he were a salesperson - that's how much he loved it. (His wife had the twins in the next aisle.) It folded in half from top to bottom, and then in half again from side to side. It ended up being about the size of a golf bag when folded. It even had a sling strap so you could carry it like a golf bag. It was extremely lightweight and easily maneuverable, you could lift it with one finger!

I went on bedrest for my entire 3rd trimester and therefore could not do much comparative shopping. After the expense of all the strollers I went through to find the perfect one, I wish I would have known about the Combi Twin Saavy from the start - I could have saved a ton of money!

We travelled a lot when our girls were under 2 (and flew for free) - believe me, with all that you have to lug around, a heavy stroller is not one of them. The other extremely nice feature about the Combi Twin Saavy is that the seat backs fully recline so the baby could lay flat and sleep - an important feature. Many strollers do not fully recline and the baby has to sleep on an angle.

For the day-to-day of getting the stroller in and out of the car, and all the extra work and things related with having twins, being LIGHT WEIGHT was the MOST IMPORTANT THING in a stroller for me.

Congratulations to your friend. Surely she will find having twins to be a double blessing and joy.

Aloha,
B.

I don't have twins, but I have an 18 month old and one on the way and I am getting the Bumbleride Indie Twin. I took it for a teast drive at Bellini at the Irvine Spectrum last last weekend and I am in love with it. You can go to their website to check it out: Bumbleride.com You can fit two car seats in it and you don't have to buy a special attachment for it. That's what sole me, plus it's a really smooth ride and really cute. Good luck.

Graco makes a good one. The double stroller is basically a frame on wheels. Super easy transfer from car to stroller, and it's as wide as regular stroller, so you can get through doorways easily. When we were looking we also liked one that had three wheels and a triangular frame so that the car seats were staggered. Craigslist is a good place to shop for gently used twin strollers... it's where we got ours=)

The Bob Stroller Strides Duallie stroller is great if she wants both options of running and walking. It comes with a post-partum exercise program too. The Bob Revolution sun and insect shade accessories fit both models. I believe the carseat adaptor works on both too.

I bought the baby trend snap n go. It's a great light stroller that is safe for the babies and lightweight for the mom. It's only around $80 and fits both infant carseats.

I have a Kolcraft Contours double stroller- I have a boy and a girl who are 20 months apart. It was only $200 and we love it! The only draw back is its size, it takes up a bit of space- but it's a double so I guess that comes with the territory.

I have 6-month old twins. I started off with a Baby Trend Double Snap and Go where you can snap in two infant car seats and then recently "graduated" to the Combi Twin Savvy. The Snap and Go is awesome in the beginning because when the twins were little, they would always fall asleep in their car seat. I didn't want to wake the twins by getting them in and out of their car seats so all I had to do was snap their car seats into the Snap and Go and off I would go. Not sure when your friend will be giving birth but I'll probably be selling my Snap and Go and car seats in the next couple of months. Now that the twins are getting bigger (and my son is almost going to outgrow the infant car seat carrier), we have a Combi Twin Savvy - which is the lightest double stroller on the market (really important when you have to get the stroller in and out of the car). It is also compact, folds really easily, and maneuvers like a dream. I recommend a side by side stroller as the babies get older so the one in the back does not kick the one in the front and there won't be any fighting on who gets to sit in the front/back. The Combi Twin Savvy also lets the seats recline if the babies want to sleep. Now that the twins are 6 months, I am also looking to get a Bob Duallie Revolution for walking on rough terrain and for my husband to use when he goes jogging. This stroller (although very pricy) would be good for your friend if she wants to go jogging with her twins. However, the babies must be at least 6 months old to use the Duallie. Hope this helps!

I have the Valco Baby Tri Mode Twin. I believe you can get a car seat adaptor for at least one seat, if not both. It is not a cheap stroller, or even affordable for most, it was a big stretch for us when we got it, but it is worth every penny to me. I went through three other double strollers in the first year after my second child was born. They all had problems such as being too bulky or big for fitting in doorways, difficult to maneuver, and my boys just didn't like them (we had a lot of fussing in the stroller). I finally decided to spend the money and I LOVE the Valco. It is so easy to steer around (even in stores and tight spaces), it is easy to push on any terrain, and the best part is, my boys are happy in it!

TRUST ME, lighter is better. The Bob & duo glider are too heavy or big & bulky, and hard to fold and lift into your trunk. I had the combi twin savvy, they make them now that accomodate 2 carseats. Peg peregos are similar in weight to the combi, but just dont fold as well. And I have a bob dualie too. The bob wont fit thru doors, but my combi did. Yes, you are a bit wider with a side by side (but not as much as you would think!)so shopping in narrow isles isnt possible at times, but I felt it was well worth that sacrifice with the lightness and ease of folding. Plus with twins she wont be shopping/going out as much anyway!! I have a peg aria single for my singleton and even it doesnt fold as well as my combi twin savvy. Loved that stroller so much, from the buckle to the folding mechanism i highly recommend that one! I did use in the beginning the snap and go. But mine was a hand me down and was broken, so I quickly began using my combi without the carseat adapters. I imagine the snap and go would be the lightest if you want a tandem for a short while. Tell her good luck, and I also highly recommend her getting involved with a twins club. They can be a FABULOUS resource.

I don't have twins but I have a 20 month old and a 5 month old. I just got the Kolcraft Contours. It is awesome. It comes with one infant seat attachment. you can order a second one. It breaks down easily. I have a smaller car and it fits into my trunk with no problems. The storage basket is big and it is very easy to push. I got it at Babies R Us. It was $200. It only comes in red so hopefully that is an ok color choice. It is the best stroller ever!!!

I have the BOB Revolution Duallie and I love it. I also got the car seat adapter for it, and it works really well. Though, one thing to keep in mind is that with the BOB a 4 month old with good head control can ride in the stroller in the regular harness, so the car seat adapter might not be needed as much...a new mom of twins isn't likely to be getting out a ton for while! THE place to buy it is REI, if you sign up for thier newsletter online they will send you a 15% off one item coupon, that is a big savings on the stroller, and they are price-set, so they are the same price everywhere. REI will assemble it for you as well. The only downside of the stroller I've found, it is heavy to transport...but all double strollers are in my opinion. Make sure it will fit in the back of your vehicle before you buy it - it doesn't fold down quite as much as some that I've seen. Also, consider buying a MacClaren double light-weight travel stroller for quick trips into a store, etc. Not a stroller you'd want for long walks, etc., but ideal for quick in and out of the car situations.

There are a lot of great strollers out there but unfortunately, most of the best ones do not accomodate two car seat adapters. Tell her it is more important to buy a stroller that she will love for the next three years than one that will accomodate two car seats which the babies grow out of pretty quickly (not as fast with twins but still pretty quick). She needs to buy an inexpensive twin snap & go for those quick trips when the babies are young and sleeping most of the time but do her research on a great double stroller that she can have for the long haul and there are some great ones out there. I own a baby shop in San Clemente and we do free stroller consultations both in our shop and over the phone. We also have a website and ship all over the US at no charge in case she isn't local. Not sure what's going on with twins lately but I have had a ton of moms in the last few weeks that are having twins so I have a lot of great recommendations and would love to help her with her research. She definitely needs to end up with a stroller that she loves and will at least make her life a little easier! Have her give me a call or check out our website.
Thanks,
K.

Hello there!
I have twin girls who were born at 26 weeks. They are now almost 3 yrs old. The Duo-Glider by Graco is WONDERFUL for twins and comes with a car seat. Your friend will just have to buy a second car seat, but it's so worth it. It was fantastic being able to go from car, to stroller, to house without having to disturb the babies!! And she's going to need all the peace and quiet she can get :-) !! Any questions, just let me know! Tell her congratulations! It's a LOT of work, but I wouldn't change a thing!! C.
