a study came out recently showing that woman are more likely to get pregnant when they are not stressed out. Take a vacation, don't be anxious about it and know that most people take a few months to get pregnant. Not to mention that most pregnancies are lost before you even miss your period. Expect it to take 6 months and don't stress in the mean time.

It's only been 9 weeks! That's barely beyond 2 months. Give it some time. Remember to focus on days 11-14 on your cycle.

Try maca. It's an herbal root from Peru and is supposed to help with hormone balance and also fertility. I took it for 2 weeks and got pregnant right away. Of course, there are no guarantees that it will work for you but it's also supposed to be very healthy for you in other ways with no negative effects, so it's worth a try. Do a google search on maca. I got mine online from Whole World Botanicals.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility book is my new favorite thing to suggest. It is a great way to get pregnant or not get pregnant with simple ways to help yourself do this naturally and without drugs. It debunks the myth that all women ovulate on day 14. I myself ovulate on day 24!! This book should be handed out to every young girl at onset of menstration. It even has a section about what to do when breastfeeding. Good luck. http://www.ovusoft.com/

be patient... your body has probably only had one ovulation in that 9 weeks (maybe two, or none since you are still breastfeeding and just stopped the pill). Remember that you can only get pregnant a few days of each normal cycle so don't be anxious... that will reduce your fertility. If you are cycling normally, your highest chance of getting pregnant is two weeks before you expect your next period to start- that's when you should ovulate (about 2 weeks after first day of last period). If you notice period-like cramping at that time it's likely ovulation. Most things I've read recommend having sex every other day while you are trying to get pregnant (especially during the week after your period). If you're trying for a girl... a few days before you ovulate... for a boy wait until just before/during ovulation. I have two girls and a boy due in 6weeks.. Also- you could check out a book on fertility or family planning. Some of the best resources for getting pregnant are actually intended to help you avoid it without bc. I think the book I read which was very helpful was called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" good luck, and like I said... you haven't been trying very long, so don't worry.

Hi~
You may be one of those lucky, or unlucky--depending on how you look at it, ladies who do not ovulate while breast feeding. I never did. If you truly want to get pregnant, you may want to check for ovulation. If it isn't happening, you may need to stop breast feeding.

All the Best on getting pregnant again.

Hello A N. I don't have any conceiving advice, but I do advise that you stop breastfeeding. As you know, when you breastfeed, your uterus contracts, and that just scares me if you were to get pregnant. Maybe I'm overly worried, but it's also a good idea so that your son doesn't feel like he can't have it but the new baby can. Wean him so that there is enough time apart so it doesn't seem personal, if that makes sense. LOL Good luck to you guys!!!

Hi,
It will depend on how much you are breastfeeding. Often you do not ovulate when you are if your baby is still drinking a lot of breast milk. Relax, gradually wean the baby about 2 years...first two years breast milk is important for him to have. Then just try not to push it because if getting pregnant becomes an obsession, you won't be able to relax and probably will not get pregnant.

So, 9 weeks? A little more than 1 cycle? For most people it takes several cycles to get pregnant. Are you temping/charting?

I really reccomend picking up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's a great book.

And just in case you hear this from anyone, you can continue nursing through pregnancy. :) It's called tandem nursing, and from what I hear, it can help even out your hormones and keep the worst pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness at bay!

Also, you mentioned being on the pill. It can take up to a year for all of those hormones to get out of your system! Not that it will take a year to get pg, but it probably won't be immediate. Seriously, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is the best book ever and explains everything so well!

My advice would be to try charting your cycle. Get a good Basal thermometer and take your temp before getting out of bed in the morning. You'll be able to pinpoint ovulation and have your best chance.

If that's too much, try getting some ovulation predictors. There are some cheap ones and lots of info here: http://www.peeonastick.com/opks.html.

You may not have to stop breastfeeding. I got pg with #2 while still breastfeeding #1, but I was also charting and using OPKs so I knew when to try. However, some women find it harder to get pg until after they wean.

So, bottom line, try charting and/or OPKs. You'll be able to up your chances with either.

Relax. Give your body time to do what it needs to do. This is a natural process, let it be natural.

9 weeks is nothing. Breathe. Have fun "trying" and enjoy your baby. #2 will come along soon enough.

Nine weeks is not a lot of time. Be patient. Don't stress over it. Your hormones regulate your cycle, and stress affects the hormones. Be happy with your stage in life, and if it happens you get pregnant, then good for you. If not, give it more time.

Hi AN - Be patient, I have three boys and each time after I went off birth control it took six to 10 months to get pregnant. Also, take really good care of your body too so that it works like it's supposed to. Eat well, for you, your breastfeeding baby, and the one soon to be growing in your womb. Listen to this recording 1-800-942-1260 (option 2 and 2). It's a pregnancy study on nutrition and a product called Juice Plus. Juice Plus is proven to support a healthy pregnancy (I have another recording the goes more detailed into how it helps feed your body get optimal nutrition so the baby making parts work better (especially if both dad and mom are taking the fruit and vegetable capsules). I have to go digging for that one, so if you really want to listen, let me know and I'll find it for you. Even with that, it's not going to get your pregnant immediately, but with consistent use it will increase the odds of a healthy pregnancy. www.WeThriveonJuicePlus.com. I wish you all the best!
