Hi Moms,
We have our first family vacation planned to go San Antonio this long weekend (May23-25). We surely would spend a day in the Sea World. And I know it will be crowded as it is a long weekend but how crowded I have no idea. We kind of got a great deal on our hotel stay for those days, so who would wanna skip that, right?
We plan to drive there with my 5 year old boy.
Just wanted some advise on what to do, and any planning tips, where to buy tickets from.

Thanks in advance!!

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your advice. My son really had a blast in San Antonio. While driving back to Dallas itself he kept saying can we go back. The sudden rain helped with the crowd in Sea World, people started leaving while we went on and enjoyed.

1. they have a great zoo- bring swimsuits for the kids, there is also a fun train ride there

2. go to the Childrens Museum- very near the Riverwalk

3. Call Sea World directly and ask for the best discount- when we went I called them and found out you could bring a Pepsi can to get adult admission for kids price

Downtown San Antonio is loads of fun. Be an early arriver to everything, and you should be fine. Do not know where you are staying, but traffic is something you will need to consider when traveling to Sea World. Leave about 40 minutes before the park opens and plan to wait. If you get in the line early to park, do not pay for premium parking.

At Sea World, as you enter, go straight to your left as you pass through the gates to see and feed the dolphins. It is less crowded early in the morning, and the dolphins are hungrier then. Pay close attention to your location and where the shows are located. Arrive at least 15 minutes before each show, especially the Bulugas and dolphins. Take some extra t-shirts, towels. If you sit up front in the splash zones, the water can be pretty cold.

The Riverwalk boat cruises are the most cost reasonable of all things to do downtown. The prices are just awesome. I think the best time to stand in line to do this is when everyone else is eating.

On the way to or from San Antonio, and if you have time, Austin, New Brunsfels are all great stops. The trolly, downtown Austin, is free, and it will take you to see things that you didn't know existed.

Hope you have lots of fun. We did.

Take a portable DVD player for the car if you have one... it's a long drive...

I would go to Sea World, I'm sure your son would love it... plus they have all kinds of shows even if it's crowded, it shouldn't be too bad.

You need to go to the Riverwalk; not sure what the weather will be like, but do it a different day than Sea World, you'll be too tired of walking if you do it the same day... and go early enough you can go to the Alamo... even if it's a really quick trip in and out... I think your son would like it.

We just took our 4 yr old two weeks ago and had a blast. Definitely take a portable DVD in the car if you have one. I would recommend getting to Sea World early. I think they open at 10, but we got there at 9 and they were letting people in so we had the park to ourselves for a couple of hours. Go feed the dolphins first because it tends to get crowded on the weekends. (you can download or print a map of Sea World on the internet so you know right where to go.) I also recommend the Riverwalk and take the boat tour. It's entertaining and relaxing. We ate at a place called La Fogata one night and it was fabulous and reasonably priced. It's about 15 min. from the Riverwalk. Have a blast!!!
