Bring lots of toys that attach to the car seat to prevent being thrown. Fun Childrens music and if you are nursing have some bottles warm and prepared for easy feeding in the car. Good Luck!

Any tips on traveling with an 11 month old in a taxi? This is our first trip wherein we are not visiting family or planning on renting a vehicle (was told not to even attempt driving in Boston). Any tips would be much appreciated.

There is a service in most states (maybe even all of them) called "Babies Away" and they will help you with travel with an infant. www.babiesaway.com It is NEVER EVER EVER EVER (you catch my drift) ok to hold an infant, or child, while riding in a moving vehicle, whether it be a bus, subway, taxi, anything. There is ALWAYS an alternative. And the woman's comment about the taxis not allowing you to use a carseat, that is just plain BS. Use a different cab company. That is just ludicrous. I recently visited Boston, and the comment about "not driving" is completely untrue. Driving was fine as long as you have a sense of direction. The alternative would be walking, which is also an option. And yes, I did visit in late fall and EVERYONE walked. Prepare for cold, but it is bearable. Please, whatever you do, DO NOT just hold your baby. You are putting your child's life in the hands of a taxi driver or bus driver. Do you really trust a stranger that much? For that matter do you trust every single other person out there driving? Because there are a lot of factors involved in just driving a few miles. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, like I said, I visited Boston in October and I could give you more detailed advice if need be. Take care, and good luck. And please, DO NOT HOLD YOUR BABY ON YOUR LAP WHILE IN A TAXI OR BUS.

This is available at Babiesrus.com for $200. It's a car seat taht snaps into a stroller. It's a full size car seat not an infant carrier. It looks like it might be useful for a trip out of town. I wouldn't borrow a car seat for the same reasons others have stated. It's just not worth the chance. Also, I did see a car seat in a magazine recently that folded up. I believe it was both a car seat and a booster later on. I think it was in parents magazine but I've all ready tossed it. Have a safe trip!
First off you will need to bring a car seat with you. If this is to much to have with you maybe when you call the taxi place see if they have car seats that they can put in the car before they pick you up. Some places are nice like that.
Well I havent done that but make sure you have plenty of toys and snacks!!!!!! Riding with children is hard anyways.
You will need to bring a carseat with you. If he still fits in an infant seat (the kind with the carrying handle) then I would recommend that since its easier to maneuver. I personally wouldn't "borrow" from the taxi company, only because you don't know the history of the seat (whether its ever been in a crash). You might just be better off renting a car and dealing with any traffic issues so that you don't have to worry about lugging around a car seat. Good luck and have a good trip!!
