We slowly introduced the milk... in an 8 oz bottle, we started with 2:6 ratio of milk to formula. After 2 days we upped the milk content until we had totally transitioned.
It worked well and not such a "shock" to the tastebuds!
My son will be 1yr old next week. I tried giving him whole milk cold turkey and it worked the first 2 days but by day 3, he refused to drink whole milk after several attempts. He is currently drinking soy formula.Any suggestions? thanks
My son is completely off formula!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for your advice!!! xoxo

Add it to his formula. GIve him 1/4 milk, 3/4 formula for a week, then 1/2 and 1/2 and gradually you'll be up to milk only. Also, they make a formula for toddlers (I never tried it though - less expensive to just buy milk).
Cold turkey is hard on kids. Try mixing milk with his formula a little at a time until eventually it's just milk. Another thing you can try is adding chocolate to the milk. Yes, I know, in the past moms didn't want to give their kids chocolate milk because they didn't think it was good for them. But new studies are showing it is fine for kids and will not effect them in any way.
My daughter did the same thing. I tried mixing the milk and formula and that worked. At first I mixed 3/4 formula with 1/4 milk and after a few days I mixed 1/2 and 1/2. After a week or 2 she was drinking the milk without any formula.
Doing a mix of milk and formula is a great way to transition. You may also want to consider soy milk instead of whole milk since your child is on soy formula. Soy milk comes in a variety of flavors too which also may be helpful.
Have you tried soy milk? If he is used to the taste of the Soy he might do better with Soy Milk. And don't despair! None of my kids liked milk. They got their calcium from Yogurt, Ice Cream, And cereals. (Dr said Push cereals!!!)
