Love it! I am a personal trainer & use one a lot with my clients. It does about everything you can think of for the upper body & abs. It's a little hard to get in a good leg workout though.

Hi,

We purchased the Total Gym mainly for my husband. He had some torn disks in his back, and when he went for physical therapy one of the machines they had him use was the Total Gym! We have since given away our weight bench and free weights. We don't need them or want them since we have this.

If you get a brand new one, it is pricey. It depends on what model you get, but ours was about $1400 at the time. They may be on sale now. You could check out used ones through Ebay or Craigslist. Be sure to get the Total Gym and not a knock off, though.

I haven't been as disciplined to use ours yet on my own. The kids and I only use ours when my husband has it out. (I need to learn how to set it up.) It takes up a lot of room when it is set up, but it folds up for storage. We keep ours folded up and over to the side in our family/living room, and then we pull it out to use it in this room.

The great thing about it is that it has many levels, so you won't overdo. (Our four year old and seven year old like to take their turn.) Plus, you are using your own body weight as resistance, so there are no other weights you have to add, take off, or store.

Feel free to email back if you have any questions!

Hi, we just got a Total Gym XL and we love it. It was $1500 new, but I got it on craiglist from a lady that was moving. We paid $75 for it! It came with all the accessories too! So keep shopping and you can find one you can afford. It is worth the money in my opinion!

I don't have a Total Gym and I wouldn't purchase one because (or any workout machine)....I prefer to walk or go to the gym.

HOWEVER, I have had to go to Physical Therapy and they use the Total Gym. I liked it when I used it at Physical Therapy.
