My almost four year old has had a wart on his finger for quite some time now, it seems to be growing slowly. Do I remove it or just leave it alone? Anyone else dealt with this? Thanks in advance!
We had it removed at the doctors office.. Sometimes they are stubborn and it take several treatments.
I just used Compound W on my three year old with band aids. It took about 2.5 weeks for it to disappear. If you want it gone quickly then take him to the ped. to have it frozen off.
You should ask a Dr. what the best treatment is and verify it's truly a wart first. My 2y/o daughter had a wart-like bump on her leg for a long time, I was contemplating putting over the counter wart remover on it, but asked the dr. and it turned out to be "Molluscum". A wart-like virus, which is apparently very contagious among kids. Healed on it's own over time, over a year really, but if Dr. would have froze it off it would have been very painful for her and also potentially scarred her for life!
Our little one had a wart on her finger. The doctor can remove it but instead suggested we take the longer approach given her age. You'll need to go to the store and get some band aids that are made for corn/wart removal (you'll find them with the regular band aids or the foot care products. Put one on and leave it as long as it will stay on, if it falls off put another one on. After about 3 days during your child's bath take the band aid off and lightly sand the wart with a nail file (don't use your regular file buy one specifically for this you don't want to transmit the warts to anyone else). Following the bath put a new band aid on. You'll have to do this for several days/weeks, until the wart is completely gone.
My son had one that he would pick open and make bleed so we had to take it off. I would recommend it anyway, since it is a virus that is contagious. It can take several treatments. I think after several returns, we ended up going in 3 or 4 times about 2 weeks apart and that finally did it.
I had a wort that had been there for at least 10 years. I wanted to do something less invasive to remove it. I had heard about duct tape for many years and didn't do it for at least 4 of those thinking it would just disappear. I decided to go ahead and try it and IT WORKED! I was amazed needless to say and happy to be rid of it! It won't hurt to try it, and it hardly costs anything compared to the doctor and getting shots ouch!
We used some wart remover bandaids that we bought at Target on my middle girl. She had a wart on her toe. Worked like a charm.
