My daughter is going to be 3 in July and she has started waking us up crying every night about 5-8 times a night!!! We go in there and it's like she is still sleeping or sometimes she lays down and is asleep as soon as we come in. I don't know if she is dreaming or what....anyone else experienced anything like this????

What can I do next?

Its so the age, my daughter is doing the same thing, its a 2.5 year old phase I think their imaginations begin to run wild and become more vivid, as a result, so do dreams! It will pass.

I would say be sure to keep a close eye on what she watches on TV and is she playing any games? Older siblings with games that she is watching? She sounds like she is having nightmares.

my son is 3 and also wakes up during the night crying, talking and moving around in his sleep. it's been going on for awhile, I think some of it has to do with all the Halloween costumes ads and movies we've watched a few times. He really seems to like all the scary stuff at the time, but maybe it's bothering him at night and he's having nightmares about it. Could be other anxieties, too, but it's hard to say. He too was waking up many times during the night and we started letting him sleep with us and he sleeps so much better, we all do! he shares a room with my older son and often was waking him up, and that's why we put him with us. We will probably start putting him back in his bed soon...hope your daughter starts sleeping better for you too! I think it is a stage, at this age they are more away of being scared and of the dark..sometimes my son falls asleep with the covers over his head. up until now he's never had any problems sleeping.

Definitely the age! We went through the same thing when my daughter was 3. I really thought there was something wrong with her! It took a long time for her to stop, and I'm sure I tried EVERYTHING that was recommended. In the end, she stopped when SHE was ready. A year later it's not uncommon for her to still come in and wake me up once or twice a night. I put her back to bed and she is instantly asleep. But after doing this multiple times a night every night for months, I can handle the occasional waking up! It will get better...I promise!

We are doing through the exact same thing with our daughter who just turned 2 in July. She wakes up 2-3 times a night. If we do go in, she's never awake so we are sure she's dreaming. She's even talked a little in her sleep... "More milk please." She's well rested and in a great mood in the morning so we're not worrying about it. It's obviously a phase. Good luck.
