You will need 3 things for this one shaving cream, food coloring and ziplock baggies. Put shaving cream in the ziplocks and then let little one pick out the color to put in there, you can make lots of different colors. They love squishing it and blending the colors.

S.,

There are a lot of great websites with craft ideas. Familyfun.com is one of them but there are many if you just search preschool or toddler crafts. Paint, water play, music/dance, reading, go on walks. Do you have a jogger or bike with trailer you could ride to a park nearby? Host playdates with friends at your home? You don't have to keep him busy all day doing crafts, follow his lead when you can. Hope some of this helps!

S., If you are out in town, there are activities at Luckie Park or at the other parks and Recs, you might check into. If you are on base, The ASYMCA has programs for the military children of pre-school age. There are play groups and etc.. Look around at the community centers and such.

A bicycle with a trailer might be a great option,to get you around....pack a snuggly blanket,a favorite toy, a snack and a sippie cup, crayons, paper, or sidewalk chalk is good, or if you are staying inside, go on websites and shop for crafts from places like Highlights.com. You can even do printouts from Nickjr. com, Disney, etc...

OR since your son is almost two, you might get him interested in computers early, and sit with him while you surf the net for kid stuff, many sites have games, puzzles and etc... teach that little guy how to use a mouse and he'll be ahead of the game when preschool comes up. Good luck!

One thing my kids loved was balls, so I went online and bought a whole bunch of SMALLl blow up beach balls (oriental trading company). They are cheap and soft. You would be surprised at the amount of fun the kids have with them. There is no limit to the imagination to a little boy!

I have found that finger paints are a good source of fun and also learning. Learning like colors coordination etc.
It is also fun for us as moms to watch the little ones. The paints are non toxic and washable. Afterwards put in frame. "great art work"

Two nights ago I bought some finger paint. I always thought it was just like regular paint but it is kind of like gel. Both of my girls (8 & 2) painted for nearly an hour and a half and it was so much fun. I also used the opportunity to talk about the colors with my 2 yr old and she is getting pretty good at picking out colors.

Hello S....When my children were babies, I went and bought a roll of cheap brown or white butcher paper.
Went home and found an area where I could just roll it out.
Got my paints(children safety paint) put on some old clothes and did the same with my sons...there are some rules:
1. you cannot be upset with a spill or a fingerprint on a
wall.
2. no shoes or socks allowed.
3. no paint brushes at this age...unless your baby shows signs of Picasso :)
4. enjoy the moment, if you have a camcorder, set and enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories

good luck..
let me know if it worked for you.
I have many more if needed.
