I don't think 3 or 4 bumps on his bum warrant a trip to the dr..
I would not worry..I would probably give him a bath.. and I bet they will be gone tomorrow.
My four year old son had an accident in the car today and he didn't say anything so I didn't notice until we got home. I cleaned him and changed him, but now he has what look like whiteheads on his thighs and bum (about 3 or 4 of them)
Could these two things be related? It's his first accident since potty training and I'm not sure if I should be worried about these bumps. Do four year olds get acne?
Should I take him to the dr? This has never happened before.
Thanks all! I was worried because the bumps were large and the area was swollen, but after some ointment and a nights rest the swelling is gone and the bumps are very small. I'm sure they will be gone by tomorrow.

3 or 4 spots?
put some ointment on them and go on about your day.

I wouldn't take him to the doctor for 3 or 4 whiteheads. I'm sure they will go away on their own.
I don't think it's acne if it's in the thigh/buttock area. There are a million reasons why a pore or 2 or 3 can clog up. After he takes a bath, you could try gently rubbing them with a terrycloth washcloth to see if the whitehead has softened and loosened, but don't irritate the skin by rubbing too hard.
I'd ignore them unless they really spread or appear to be really red and irritated.
Always give these little things a few days before you decide to make a doctor appointment. Especially when they arent causing discomfort.
Acne isn't caused by this sort of thing. It's likely just something similar to diaper rash from the ammonia or the pooh getting on that skin where it isn't normally found.
I'd see how it's effecting him and if it's bothering him or getting worse or not going away after a couple of baths then I'd make an appointment.
My 6 yr old son has these. It turned out to be a virus similar to warts called Mollescum Contagiosum. Looks just like pimples with whiteheads, and then they burst and heal.
I took mine son to the Ped and the Dermatologist. Short answer, they are harmless. There is a spot treatment for it (basically dries it up), but the dermatologist told us it would eventually go away on its own. And it is with my son, slowly. It's been 6 mos. He has it all over his back and butt.
