Hi moms! I was wondering if anyone has a Wii Fit and likes it for their New Year's resolution of getting into shape. I do not like to exercise and a gym membership is not an option. I was hoping for something fun and engaging so I don't have to dread working out and something to be kind of cost effective too. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I love mine, when I have the discipline to use it. My kids use it more than me though. My son who is on the real skinny side, looses about 4 # in a week, so i have to limit him big time! Wish I could loose 4# in a week. LOL The young get everything & they are to ignorant to even know to appreciate it! Holidays just gave me 10 pounds back on, so i plan on getting real serious soon. very soon. LOL

Love the Wii Fit Plus. You don't even realize the games are working your bootie off until you are sweating like crazy or out of breath!
My husband has fun trying to beat my kids' top scores! Lol!
It keeps my kids occupied and moving when they are stuck in the house like yesterday because of rain and I was doing laundry while hubby was hunting.
Go for the 'plus' if you are going to get it. Just a step above the original with a lot more fun games. :)

i got it to add some variety to my workout (my little pea brain gets bored very easily.) it's pretty low-key and i have to stick with it for a long time to burn enough calories, but it's a lot of fun and does just what i want it to....gives me a change.
i say buy!

It depends where you are phsyically. If you are very overwight and not in shape and have never exercised at all then yes. If you need to lose a few pounds and are in relatively good shape and your body knows what it is to exercise then no. The workouts didnt challenge me at all. The novelty wears off fast also. If you don not have a gaming system yet I would buy the xbox connect....that would most likely be a better workout with the same concept.

We just got a Wii Fit for Christmas at our house and we LOVE it! We have gotten WAY more exercise in the last few weeks then we have in the last few years! You can get a great workout on that thing, but you don't feel like your just "working out" you feel like your playing a game!
Our whole family will do boxing and bowling together, my husband and I will go for a run together with it, and I'll play games individually too. It keeps track of your weight, BMI, and overall balance for you. I think its a great investment!

I have a Wii Fit and it was used a lot the first month or so - after that not so much. I have the balance board, but I never really noticed any difference in how I felt after I worked out, it always felt like I couldn't do the moves right or was scared to jump on the board (that will break it).

We got an xbox 360 with Kinect for Christmas and I just set up my Biggest Loser game this morning - already I can tell it's going to kick the Wii Fit's butt! It was a lot harder to do cardio on the Wii Fit; you had to hold the controller, which was a pain, and the activities that told you to put it in your pocket didn't work well especially if you didn't have a pocket. So far the Kinect hasn't had any of those issues. The cardio is great, and it tells you when you're doing it wrong and how to correct your movements. Even the regular Kinect games get you moving a LOT more than Wii does. I was seriously sore the day after playing Kinect Sports with my 8 year old - I guess trying to do hurdles wasn't such a good idea on my out of shape body!

It is fun I think the fit plus is a little better because you can customize your work out, ea sports workout game (dont know exact name) has wonderful reviews and I see they have zumba for the wii that looks
Ike fun. You can save money buy buying the board used at the store or on craigslist or a generic board.

I got a Wii & Wii Fit for Christmas. I love it. It has a lot of fun games. I'm not sure if it is good for weight loss (not my goal), but it is fun! I got it online at Walmart in a bundle (Wii, Wii Sports, Wii fit for $250.

I'm still back in the twentieth century, but I have a number of friends who like the Wii Fit program. They all say, however, that IT won't work unless YOU do! Even when the novelty wears off, keep going! Hopefully, you'll like the feeling of well-being that you have after you work out so much that you'll be motivated to continue.

You really need to get a physical before you start something radically new and different. Ask your doctor for suggestions, too. Nutritional changes to go along with calorie-burning changes will make your resolution more likely to be successful!
