The Potty Trainer

I am about to get serious about potty training my son. Has anyone used Johanne Cesar's "Potty Training Made Simple, Easy and Fast?" She really sounds legit, but her website looks very poor in quality so I question the validity of it. I was also looking at Lora Jensen's "3-Day Potty Training". I know a lot of people think it's stupid to waste money on this stuff, but I have no idea of how to do it and if these ladies do, I am willing to pay for a book/program to help me. I know every kid is different and I get TONS of tips and advice from tons of moms on how THEIR child potty trained but I like the idea of getting advice from folks who have trained multiple children since they have dealt with a variety of personality types. PLEASE, no soap boxes about waiting for my son to be ready... he is ready and I am ready!

What can I do next?

If you enter "potty training" in the search box at the top of the page, you'll find many earlier requests on this subject, and may see advice on how these programs have worked or not for other moms. Hope you find something that works well for you.

I checked into Lora Jensen's "3 day potty training" but like you I didn't reall want to spend money on it, especially if I wasn't sure it would work. My mom and I did some looking around and found a little bit about her method and we tried it and it worked. Basically all you do is let the child run around without a diaper or anything on that way when they have an accident, they actually feel what's going on. If they have a diaper, or pull up or even undies on they don't get the full effect of what's happening. We had my daughter potty trained in about a week. She would have an accident and she did NOT like that feeling at all. It can be messy, but it's definitely worth it.

The 3 day potty training works wonders. It really works in three days (dri to sun). I bought it and would say it is DEFINITELY worth the money. 6 of us in the office had kids at about the same time, so naturally we were all in the same boat at about the same time. We all did the 3 day potty training and it worked on 5 out of 6 of our children. They actually don't run around without any bottoms like one of the previous people wrote. They are in undies only. I bought the book trust me on that, they aren't running around bottom naked! Lol
the book is worth it, there are a few more steps than just letting them run around all weekend feeling the accidents. It's worth the money. It works. It takes a little commitment for a weekend, but you can do it and your child will be very proud of themselves when you finish. The book isn't that much anyway I think it was either 15 or 20 bucks. Good luck

This is the one I used and had 3 friends use it with success too. It worked really well for us. I haven't heard of the one you mention but this one the child is not naked unless you want them to be, and her age recommendations to start are 20 months for girls and 20-24 months for boys if not sooner. It's a REALLY quick read and I made my husband actually do the first three days so he read it too. Good luck with whichever one you decide! It WILL be worth it once it's done!!

I potty trained my children early starting at six weeks my mum taught me to put baby on pot whist breast feeding i got wet a few times with my son but the same principle applies be regular and make it fun praise the child each time get a child seat for the toilet it is better than using a pot do not punish under any circumstances gentle and repeat.....that they are getting big enough to go like mummy and daddy if it is a boy get dad to take him often and get him to praise the child each day they use the toilet its more training the parents than anything good luck

I don't have an answer for the two authors you mentioned but I wanted to suggest another book to you. The No Cry Potty Training Solution by Elizabeth Pantley. http://www.pantley.com/elizabeth/

I found her book to be a wealth of information without being 'my way is the right way'. She's very open about how kids are different (she has 4 of her own) and how different kids need different training styles.

Good luck!

I used Lora Jenson's method for my son and daughter. Both them trained in 3 days and we never looked back. It is a tough 3 days especially on the parent who is doing the training, but have his favorite drinks and LOTS of underwear on hand. They don't have to run around naked, it's feels very different to them just having on underwear vs. a diaper...especially for the boys. Good luck!

I tried both of these with no success. I thought I was ready and my daughter too...but neither of us were. The way you truly find this out is when you sink money into one of these things and it doesn't work. You can't know until you try it. In my case, 6 months later, out of the blue she started always going in the potty. Poop one week and pee the next, awesome and completely unexpected.

Unfortunately, this is my only child so I don't have a lot of basis of comparison. BUT my thought was and still is, that if you are convinced that your child is ready and you are too, then what could spending $20 or whatever the cost is now hurt? One thing I appreciated about these e-books was that they did give a "child's" view of what's happening which was very helpful to me.

Word of caution, Lora Jensen now spams me at Christmas time trying to get me to buy "letters to Santa". Thank goodness for the "junk" function on my email :)

Good luck!
