I was on the pill for 3 1/2 years straight. Went off in March 2004 and was got pregnant in July 2004, so 4 months.
I've been on the pill for 7 years and stop taking them a month ago. No sign of my cycle yet! How long does it take for your body to resume back to its regular course?

It took my husband and I 6 months. I was told that was the normal time after coming off the pill. Seems funny because they say don't skip a pill or you might open that chance :)
I also have had friends that got off the pill and the next month they were pregnant. Just depends on the woman. But 6 months was the normal time.
Hi Christine. I am part-time Medical Assistant at a GYN office. I have seen pt's get pregnant as soon at three week after stopping the pill.
Hi, Christine! I was on the pill for several years, too. When I got off of it, my doctor told me it was possible to conceive very quickly, but sometimes it can take up to three months before "normalcy" comes back in your cycle.
Take a pg test to be sure, it's possible you're already pregnant!
The average wait for the cycle to return after being on the pill so long is about 3-6 months...but it CAN happen anytime. My wait was 3 months (after being on for about as long as you). BEst of luck, and have fun practicing in the meantime!
Hi,
I have three wonderful little people. I would venture to say that it may take a little while before you can get pregnant because the pill is still in your system. I dont know exactly how long but I guess time will tell. Just give it time to get out of your system. Good luck in the future.

NOT LONG! The first month i was off, i got pregnant!! :) And I had been on and off the pill for about 2 years.
I went off the pill year before last in December and it was the 1st of Febuary before I got my period and then it was July before we were pregnant. Be patent your body is in shock right now. It can be unerving I know but your cycle will fix itself soon enough.
I stopped taking the pill Mid August 2006 we got pregnant at the very end of August 2006 and found out we were expecting on September 8, 2006. It didn't take long at all!
Actually you may have to go to your doctor and have a round of Provera to get you started again. After that everthing should fall back into place. Your body for 7 years has adjusted to not ovulating therefore you may have to encourage it to get started again.
Hope this helps

I took the pill for 7 years. I stopped taking it in June 2006. I became pregnant with twins in October 2006. :) So apparently it doesn't take long! I've been told (by a Dr.) that it takes about 2 or 3 months for your cycle to return back to normal. Good luck!

Hi Christine, I used birth control for 3 yrs before I decide to get pregnant. I stop in August 05 & I got pregnant on Sept.05. I could be that you are pregnant. Some girls get pregnant right away, some others take a couple months or even a year before they conceive. Hopefully you are pregnant, just ask God to bless you with a new baby, and he will. Take Care. M.
I was off my pill for 2 weeks so it can happen very quickly!
It took me a really long time, just over 4 years. Obviously, there were other things going on (I was finally diagnosed with Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome), but the doctors weren't really concerned until we passed the 1 year mark. That is what they said was still in the realm of normal.
My first baby was planned and when I stopped taking the pill I was pregnant by the next month. last month while still on the the pill I missed my period and I just found out I am preggo. So not long at all.
I was on the pill 4 years, got off, and it took a year to get pregnant with my son. Got off the pill again, 4 years later, was pregnant with my daughter within 3 months.
It varies for every woman. My sister got pregnant twice while taking the pill. Others have trouble for a year after discontinuing the pill. It's like the idea that if you breastfeed you won't ovulate- with my first two I started my period before my 8 week checkup! With my next two, the babies were a year old, so you just don't know. :) But I hope that it doesn't take too long for you!

It took my body a good 6 months. Everyone is different though.
it took me three months, but I also have very irregular cycles normally. good luck!
Most doctors will say it takes anywhere from six months to a year considering how long you have been on the Pill.
My wait to get pregnant was much shorter, roughly a week, and I had been on it for eight years prior.
So, depending on your age and body, it varies. Getting your cycle back will take a few months after that length of time on the Pill as well, then your body will be more adjusted to possibly becoming pregnant later on.
The pill is a powerful hormonal imbalance, and for some if other things are going out of balance it is difficult to get back into normal mode. Most alternative docs strongly recommend getting off the pill. Danger. Red alert. I used Toni Weschler's Taking Charge of Your Fertility book when I got off pill after 5 yrs. You will completely understand where you are cycle wise, where you may be out of balance, to achieve pregnancy and to avoid pregnancy, all naturally. Wonderful information for every woman.
Keep in mind that every woman is going to be different, but when I got off the pill it took my body almost and entire year to regulate itself. However, I was never regular before I was on the pill so I am not sure how much will apply to you. The body responds so oddly to any hormonal changes, increased or decreased, so don't worry if things don't go back to normal immediately.
