My Pediatrician just put a referral in to Tx Scottish Rite for us this morning. I am wondering if any of you have ever been referred and how long the process took from referral to getting an appointment. Also, does the referral guarantee an appointment? I am so confused about how this hospital works. From everything I have read though, it is an AMAZING facility. My son has leg length discrepancy from an accident.
Scottish Rite is a wonderful place!! A few years ago my Company decided to chose a charity that it would support throughout the year. We do lots of fundraisers for SR and a talent show at the hospital each year. They do some amazing things out there!! I have no insight into how long the process takes, but just know you will be in good hands!
I absolutely agree with everyone else. It is a great facility, the doctors are available for follow up questions, the nursing staff are fantastic, and all the support staff are great as well. The referral didn't take long and the appointments were on time. I highly recommend the place!
It doesn't take long to get the appointment. You will probably spend a whole day at the facility waiting room and there will be a few appointments. We had to do this with my daughter when she was 6 months old. They are amazing doctors and we make sure to take her back every year at Christmas to give gifts and a donation. I still can't walk into that place without crying... I am so grateful to them!
Yes the referrral does guarantee you to get in. This is the best place ever. If I could use them as my reg doctor I would. It pretty easy to get an apt. But be ready to spend the entire day.
My first was breech as well as she had an extra finger so we got the pleasure to meet several docs. When she was 9mths old they did the surgery to remove the extra finger. The hospital made everything so easy and less stressfull. We now only have to go once a year and look forward to visiting that awesome hospital. Just got a referrall for my 16yr old, We go Nov 7. I totally love this hospital.
Our daughter was referred and seen within a couple weeks. It is an absolutely outstanding hospital and the staff are the best people around. You and your son will feel very welcomed. They are open to questions, so feel free to ask a lot.
When my son was referred (he had trigger thumb) it took about a 2-3 weeks , but then his was not such an emergency case. But when we did go there, the diagnosis was immediate, excellent doctor and excellent service. Very kid friendly and as parents you do come out feeling satisfied. We never had to go back again for his thumb. I hope you get a response soon.
My second twin has had to go to Scottish Rite several time since she was breech - and a girl. Apparently those two factors can lead to hip dysplasia. They have been wonderful and they are so helpful. Yes, the referral guarantees an appointment- just call and they will tell you everything. They know it's confusing and when you get there or when you call they give you lots of details they are patient - they make it easy!!
But it is a big facility and we have found we meet with several people when we go - so bring activities!
