I have a 7 and a half month old son who has just started teething. Someone advised getting the all natural, Homeopathic teething tablets. I was wondering if anyone else had tried this, and what your feelings were about them

What can I do next?

I always used the teething rings you can keep in the refrig. The coolness on their little gums help with the soreness. You can also give them a little tylenol to help the pain & crying.
Hope this helps! What kind of work do you do from home?

I used the teething tablets with both of my boys when they were babies. They worked well with my first one but not with my second one. My pediatrician did say they were not harmful one way or another. After lots of trial and error I found it best to crush them with a spoon and dissolve them in a tablespoon or so of water and let the baby take them thru a little medicine dropper. They dissolve but it takes awhile if you try to put them in their mouths. Good luck, teething is hard but I have to say as much as I thought it was awful I don't remember it now 5 years down the line.

Teething tablets are the best! They work well and don't have any side effects. They melt away super fast so you don't have to worry about baby choking. They taste sweet. I gave them to my kids when they were teething. I am going to use them for my new baby too. You don't have to worry if your kid get ahold of the bottle and eats half the bottle. (yes this did happen) Poison control said they would have to down five times as much for it to have a harmful effect. It was a relief.
I do think teething tablets are a very good and safe product for baby.

Yes, I have given my 23 month old the Homeopathic teething tablets & they work GREAT!! While my daughter was teething, I'd give them along with Tylenol/Motrin. They tend to relieve some pain/discomfort for my daughter while waiting for the Tylenol/Motrin to kick in.

Yes, try them, they are a life saver! They work within a few minutes and the little one just stops crying, like a miracle! Our nanny did look on the ingredients and said it contains a pain medicine, so Im not to sure if it is all natural or not. But it got my two year old through the rough times and I plan to use it on my 9 month old when he starts to teeth.

I have never tried the tablets but a little trick that I used with my babies is taking a cucumber, cutting out the seeds in the middle and putting it in the freezer for 30+ minutes. I was told by our maid in Panama that the cucumber has a numbing effect on the gums and it's even more soothing to them because it's cold. I would hold on to it and just let them suck on it till it started getting mushy. I did it with all 3 of my kiddos and it seemed to soothe thier gums and keep them happy when they would get fussy. Hope it works for you, good luck.

They are awesome! They dissolve very easily and quickly in the baby's mouth, and they contain chamomile, which helps to keep the baby calm...and helps him/her to sleep. I recommend them to anyone with a teething baby!

Research Clove Bud to see if it's recommended for babies. If so, you can put a tiny drop (just a very little bit, because it's pretty strong) on your fingertip and rub it on your baby's gum area to numb it. (It will numb everything it touches, so expect more drool if it touches the tongue directly.) Cotton swabs can soak up more than you want/need to use. This works very well for my wisdom tooth pain.

Happy teething!

Well, First congrats on your new baby. And even more congrats on trying healthy items first for baby.
I have used the teething tablets since my first was born. I swear by them. The greatest godsend ever for teething babies. They have virtually no flavor and dissolve like cotton candy in your mouth, there is no fear of choking they dissolve so fast. and work that fast too.
If the pain is really really super bad you can rub a tiny bit of Tylenol directly on the gum so you are not giving a full dose all the time. The other thing that really helped was ..I cut a 2 inch diagonal into the corner of a washcloth tied that into a knot then got it wet and froze it. then let them go to town chewing...the roughness and cold work together better than a plain teether...
If He is eating solid foods, or solid for the teeth he has, biter biscuits work well too...keeps them busy for awhile, but they are VERY messy, just like glue after it dries on the face..I found it just as easy to let them soak in the tub afterwards...again another activity to keep their minds off of teething..
Good Luck...

I know of several families that have used this and they loved it. I will advise you to be careful with the product though. Even though it's all natural, you can still overdose with it. Also, talk to your doctor about it before using. As with all things you give your child you need to take the proper precautions. Don't let the label "all natural" give you a sense of false security. Each person is different and has different reactions to things, even the all natural products.

I used them with my son who is now 6 and loved them. They are so much better than that wretched tasting orajel. I give them to friends as part of baby shower gifts now. My teenage step-daughter even used them when she was cutting a wisdom tooth. She had to take 4 at a time instead of 2.

We also used the gas tablets, which worked well too.

I have personally used the ear drops when I have had ear infections. They work well, but only for a couple of days then the pain would return.

I love homeopathic meds. We give our son one for ADHD called Attend. It works wonders and has no side affects like prescription meds do.

I absolutely loved Hylands homeopathic teething tablets. I would place them under my daughters tongue and they would really help her calm down. They dissolve very quickly. It is important to put them under the tongue so they enter the bloodstream quickly. Otherwise, they are swallowed, they become diluted and it is not as effective.

Sometimes I had to use Orajel and Infants Tylenol as well when she was in a lot of pain, but usually just the teething tablets alone worked great!!

Homeopathic teething tablets are not even harmful if you give more than the recommended dosage. They are a much safer alternative than a pharmaceutical product. I used them on my son and I know many people who have also used them and have seen success. If you ask many medical doctors who are only trained and more familiar in western medicine, they are not going to have much to say about it. So I would say try it, it's not going to hurt as much as other pharmaceutical medications. Good luck.

Looks like you've gotten some great responses already, but I too LOVE Hyland's Teething Tabs. Most grocery stores & pharmacies now carry them, as well as Walmart/Target. Sometimes they are with the baby stuff, other times they are by the Orajel in the pharmacy dept. Occasionally you have to ask for them at the pharmacy counter. Even though they are all natural, I still like to do a little research before giving my child anything - can't be too safe. These were recommended to me by a fellow mom when my daughter was ~ 5 mo, and so first I talked to her pediatrician as well as a pharmacist whose judgment I really trusted; both had great things to say about them. I would just use them as directed - even things that are safe can be dangerous if used in excess. These worked so much better than Orajel for my daughter who will be 3 in September, & I plan to use them with my 2nd due in October. As a matter of fact, when she was getting her 2 yr molars my daughter remembered "tooth medicine" & asked for it when her teeth were bothering her, even though she hadn't had any for months before that. When teething pain was the worst I would use them together with Advil (well, store brand Ibuprofen) - it seemed to last longer than Tylenol. Good luck! :)

For nighttime relief I do use Tylenol because it's stronger.

Hi K.,

I LOVE the teething tablets! Used them on both of my girls- and still do. (They're now 2 and 5.)

Anyway, they work and they're safe. You'll only give your baby 3 to 4 at a time and they're very tiny- dissolve almost instantly. Try not to touch them with your hands. The thing about homeopathic medicine is that it looses potency the more it is handled because it's not like a normal pill. It's very mild and the bulk of the pill is usually a sugar type thing- so it dissolves.

I hope this helps you. Good luck with the teething!

I found that they worked very well and didn't taste bad so my kids did not fight me or scream when I gave them to them. I will say that once my kids got older and started cutting mollers, the teething tablets seemed not to work as well. I say give it a try. Just give your son maybe 3 or 4 tablets and see how he is. They are absolute lifesavers. In comparison to the gel the kids actually want more of the tablets and they WORK. They gel makes their mouth feel too funny, I think. And they just hate it when you put that gel in their mouth.

My daughter's daycare even suggested it to me because they stopped using the gels. They're more affective than the gels and another advantage is you don't have to stick your hand in their mouth with the tabs.

Good luck!
