Hi my son is having a really hard time with teething as well. He actually gets relief from chewing a toothbrush--any size. I alternate the tylenol and motrin. Good Luck.
My 17 month old daughter is getting her eye teeth in and is in considerable pain. These are by far the worst set of teeth yet. I've tried everything to relieve her pain - teething tablets, orajel, Tylenol, Motrin, teething rings. I even resorted to a little wiskey on her gums which has worked the best by far. Does anyone have any other ideas that worked for them? I'm really worried about bedtime.
I took my daughter to the doctor today for an unrelated reason and the doctor found sores in her mouth. She said that they were from a virus and would clear up in a week or so. Has anyone had an experience with mouth sores? I tried the mayloxx and childrens benedryl combo and that seemed to help, too. I put it on the roof of her mouth where the sores are.

When my two girls were teething, I also used the homeopathic teething tablets from Whole Foods as well as Motrin if she seemed feverish, and that combo seemed to work. I like the popsicle idea too.
Also just massaging her gums with your finger or a washcloth might feel good.
Christa - When my son was teething I used frozen ice pops and Motrin. It ice pops helped relieve the pain and reduce the swelling while the Motrin worked in the same manner, it was longer lasting than the ice pops. When it got really bad I used an adult product called Anal Ease, which contains benzocaine, a numbing agent. It would last for several hours. This is what I resorted to instead of the Whiskey; although I had thought of that also. The Anal Ease is an editable product made w/petroleum jelly. You can purchase it over the internet at the many adult stores on line. If you decide to go that way my suggestion would be Tasteful Treasures.
Hey christa...my dr. & her group came up with something that worked wonders! All my kids got their teeth early so bed time was the absolut worst. Anyway what she told us to do was...mix equal parts mayloxx and childrens benedryl(one numbs & the other helps the inflamation). I use cherry or berry mayloxx. Just dip your finger in and rub liberaly. I also gave tylenol at bed time and i saw an immediate improvement. They usually slep through the night. Our doctor is dr. Nancy aycock-walman (reisterstown md) hope this helps. G. e.
If you get some cloves from the grocery store and twist them up and squeeze them some then rub the them on her teeth, cloves take tooth pain away, it's even what the dentist puts in a temp filling!! I used it with my son and it would actually last through the whole night and I swear by it now whenever I get a tooth ache!! Hope it helps!
Hi Christa
I can imagine how frustrated you both must be. I heard from my ped doc that oragel is not good only because it really aggrevates the nerves and once the med wears off, it can be more painful. I really didn't have too much trouble when my son's teeth came in, but when he did have trouble i did give him Tylenol and some ice to suck on. I have those mesh "bags" from One Step Ahead where you can put different things in there and it screws to a handle so the child can hold on to it. It says it can be used for different fruits, foods, etc becaus the idea is that the child sucks on it and doesn't get any large chunks of food to choke on but can still enjoy the flavor. We just put an ice cube in there and ran it under some water first so it didn't stick to his lip when he first put it in his mouth and he loved it. I guess it felt good to chew on something and it was cold at the same time.
I hope you both find relief!!!!

I used homeopathic teething tablets and they seemed to give my son some relief. Also, I cut up fruit and then froze it, strawberries, peaches and bananas, and then gave that to my son for relief. Sometimes I gave it to him in one of those mesh holder things & other times I gave it to him without. It's a little messy, but worth it. My son really found relief this way.
My daughter wouldn't touch a teething ring but the mesh bags w/ ice cubes worked for her (loved those!), as well as applying pressure to/massaging her gums with my fingers/washcloth. Please no matter what anybody says don't give her anymore whiskey on the gums. There are safer and healthier ways to get through this. Don't worry, just when it seems like it can't get any worse it'll be over - it all passes eventually. Good luck!

Those are definitely the worst! With my daughter, I let her have a small bowl of ice chips. SHe would play withthem for a second and then eat them. This seemed to sooth her during the day. AT dinner time, I would let her have a popsicle so that she could numb her mouth with the cold and then I would give her tylenol. Not sure if this helps. This set of teeth are just really painful for them.
