Hi,
When is the earliest a baby can start teething? My baby girl Enza keeps chomping on her fingers, drooling, very cranky, and her cheeks are red. She just turned 3 months last friday. My son started teething at 5 months, is 3 months too early?

What can I do next?

Hi there! I'm in the same boat as you. My daughter is 4 months now and has been teething since two weeks ago. I give her 3 to 4 teething tablets and a little tylenol and it seems to help. Also since she is still small and can't really grasp a teething ring on her own, I took a small washcloth, wet it down and put it in the refrigerator. She can hold this easily and it helps when she bites down. Hang in there!! It'll eventually get better.

Hi A.,
This sounds just like my son. He started doing the same thing around 2 months old. We talked to our doctor and she said that it is rare for children to get teeth that early but it is possible. So we did the teething rings and a little bit of infant tylenol when things got really bad. This would go in stages. Some days he didn't seem to have any problems then other days we thought for sure a tooth would be popping out soon. However, our sons first tooth did not come through until he was 6 1/2 months old! But he has had very few problems now with each tooth, so maybe all the build up was worth it. Hang in there I know it can sometime be frustrating and as a mother you would always want to take on the pain but this is something that she has to go through so be patient and give lots of hugs and kisses.

My husband was born with a tooth... I'm pretty sure that's as early as it's possible <Grin>

Both of our daughters had 8 teeth by the time they were 8 months, and I'm pretty sure they cut at least one each by 3 months.

3 months is not too early! My oldest got a tooth at 2 months my youngest was more like 6-7 months. Have you tried the teething tablets? I think they are called Highland teething tablets. You can get them at Wal-mart. Good luck, I hope they break through quick!

Nope, my son started teething at 1 1/2 months. I would put teething tablets in his bottles to try to calm him. Also, you can give .4 (i think it's ML) of infant tylonel. If you buy the tylonel on the dropper there are measurments of .4 and .8, with my son, who was 8lbs 11oz we were able to start tylonel at 1 month.

Teething rings are great, massaging the gums are also great tips. Good luck. My son is a miserable teether...he is getting molars TIME FOR MY PATIENCE!
