my son is five months old and has been rejecting his bottle for over a month. He screams all day long. At night he has been waking five or six times. I have tried motrin and tylenol as well as orajel to ease his pain, but nothing seems to work. Both teeth are through the gums, but he is still rejecting his bottles. How long will this last. I feel that I am at my wits end!!! HELP PLEASE!!

What can I do next?

Are you sure it's not an ear infection?

My son has been teething since 3 months, I feel your pain! He is now 11 months and has 10 teeth and one actually seems to worse than the next. He now takes tantrums and throws his back and head back. I have to be so careful with him. This evening to me two hours to get him to go to bed and he left half the bottle. It bothers his gums. Tylenol usually helps but it's short term only last 4 hours so I save it for emergencys other than that I do the Hyland Teething Tablets wich are all natural and help calm him down. Good Luck, I know how hard this is on the parents and well as the babies.

My daughter loved her vibrating teether. I even bought a back up just in case the batteries died. If he can stand you massaging his gums at all, there is a cleaner and brush that goes on the finger. That helps thin the skin out and makes it easier for the teeth to come through. A wet washcloth bunched up can sometimes help. Hope these ideas helped.

I would suggest that you speak with your family dentist. They could give you names of Pediatric Dentists , who they refer to. I am sure the Pediatric dental office could give you suggestions of treatment or at least dental web-sites you could get answers to your dilemma.

I'd go to the doctor and make sure nothing else was wrong. After that, I'd try wetting the corner of a washcloth and putting it in a ziplock bag in the freezer. He can gnaw on the cold end. You could also crush some ice and put it in one of those baby mesh bags for him to suck on as well. Or put frozen grapes or blueberries or bananas in that bag.

Just wanted to see how your son is doing. I hope better and if not, that you've been to the pediatrician's with him.

Hi H., we are nearly neighbors!

This will not be his last miserable food strike! A lot of babies take the teething very hard. I think I used to give the teethers a frozen bagel (have to keep a close eye to make sure they don't get a big hunk off they can't swallow), or some teething toy from the freezer. Also, are you using the weight guide for the motrin/tylenol dose? My boys were BIG and the 'age' dose was never enough. Teething aside at his age he is making some other discoveries that are surely upsetting. Just hold him close, try every distraction, and remember this phase shall pass.

I hope you have 'help' at night. A fella to share the sleeplessness?

Have you tried changing nipples on the bottle? He may need more milk to come through. I know I had to do this with my kids. Just a thought! Good luck!
