Taking Prometrium with Food?

I am currently taking a Progesterone supplement (Prometrium) for pregnancy and have found that if I take it before bedtime (as the label says to) I wake up in the middle of the night with bad stomach pains and severe hunger.

I started taking it at bedtime with food and I am wondering if that is okay. I heard oral Progesterone is given in larger quantities because it doesn't get absorbed as easy. Does taking Prometrium with food interfere with absorption?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Just ask your doctor and he/she may be able to help you. I had to take Prometrium and did it first thing in the morning. It made me feel drunk and loopy! Not a good thing when you have to teach teenagers, right? My OB said it wasn't a problem to take it about 30 minutes before I went to bed. Voila! Problem solved.

Try Googling it and see what it says......I think the best bet would be to call your doctor and tell them what is going on.......they would know the answer better for you than anyone....

Good Luck and take care.

I have taken Prometrium a few times before, 1st while going through fertility treatments for my first pregnancy and 2nd during the early stages of my second pregnancy becuase of my past history. Both times, my Dr. had me insert the Prometrium capsules vaginally (sorry, TMI) but I had no other side affects! Might be worth asking your Dr for a lower dose (if it's higher because you are taking it orally) and see if you can get the supplement the "other way"!

Well I read the literature (I had a prescription too) but it doesn't say. I would ask the pharmacist, they're usually pretty helpful with that kind of stuff.
