I have an 11 month old who just started going back to day care.I am a teacher and 3 wonderful month off with her. Over the summer she was a nap schedule of ofa 1hour and a half nap in the morning and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. Since returning to day care she is taking 1 45min-1 hour in the morning on the walk they take everyday. She will not go down in the after and then is exhuasted when arrive about 4:30. She falls asleep in the car and sleeps until about 6 when I get her up for dinner. Until now she has slept 11-12 hours overnight. She now wakes up 2-3 times a night often staying awake for an hour or more at a time. I need help. I do believe she is also teething and is very close to walking which I am aware can also affect her sleep patterns. At day care they have tried rocking, walking and giving her a bottle. She does have her own crib and room to sleep in away from the other children. Any suggestions that I can give them or that will help her sleep through the night would be great. Thank you for any help you can give.

How great that you got to spend the summer months with your daughter. I guess you could look on a positive note that she loves her daycare so much she can stand to sleep an miss any of it? :) If you're open to consulting a book on the topic, I've found that Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Marc Weissbluth to be extremely helpful. He give step by step instructions and it could have some hints you'll find valuable. Good luck!

My daughter has been in daycare since 3 months and does not take naps for the most part. We have about a 45 minute commute in the morning, where she takes a small nap, then another one during the commute on the way home. It is a good day at daycare if she sleeps for an hour. We have not had a problem with her sleeping at night, as she continues to sleep through the night. She is almost 10 months old now.
I think she is just adjusting to the high stimulation of activities at daycare. Or have you had much of a struggle with seperation anxiety? I have read that this can cause them to wake in the middle of the night as well.
I do not have much advise for you, but just wanted to give you hope that my daughter does not sleep at daycare much and is able to sleep at night, so there is hope!

Depending on how long she has been at daycare, she may not be comfortable there yet. All the new stimuli is keeping her active and she just doesn't want to sleep yet. I would suggest asking the provider to simply lay her in the crib and leave her to some quiet time for an hour or so. This will help her adjust a bit and if she is really tired she will more than likely fall right to sleep in the first 30 minutes.
