Okay, I am NOT a pool rat. As a cancer survivor, we take our family for mountain vacations instead! However, my 3 yr old is going to swimming lessons, and I need some advice on where to purchase a swimsuit for me.
Since having my son, #2 child, my body type has completely changed and I am stumped on the type of suit to get or where to get it. If possible, I'm looking for a nursing suit or two piece tank style with a loose enough middle to make it work.
If that's not common, I wouldn't know. I am NOT a shopper, either! Where do you look for suits? I may be interested in one with a skirt to cover the 'cheese' that is slowly melting away with diet, but not a flowy one. More like a tennis skirt, straight fit. Also, I am just now down to a 14 (pretty good considering I was at an 18 in January!), but not used to having an full bust to cover.
Ugh. Any help is better than my own ideas! I'm the kind that walks into a store and asks the clerk to dress me like the mannequin! Please help me find a starting point! TIA
THANKS FOR THE ADVICE! I am going to Target today and checking out Land's End and motherwear.com tonight! Seems like a maternity suit is the cheapest answer (I do not plan on needing the suit past this summer!)
I love mamasource moms!
Have a great weekend,
L.

I like lands end. They have a great selection and fit.
Good Luck (I don't like going to the pool, but I also have small children!)
You may want to check out Lands End (www.landsend.com). They're currently on sale (my email says for the next 3 days) and there's a coupon for free shipping - Promotion Code SUMMER and the PIN 00007896 . They have the small tennis skirt style mini bottoms & tons of tops to choose from. Good luck!
As a swim teacher choosing the right bathing suit is very important. I have found that Landsend.com has the best suits and the best way to SHOP for suits. You can pick which attributes you want and it narrows your search to save time. You can also pick a different size bottom and top. They have a very accurate size chart. They frequently offer free shipping if you're on their email list. It's the easiest way to shop for a suit.
Bodacious Boutique has a great assortment of swimsuits for the larger figure, and I think that she has a lot in size 14, though it's also easy to find stuff for larger sizes, too. Also, Loretta's Intimates carries bra-sized swimwear in addition to great bras!
Hey L.!
Try Land's End. I think they are even having sales right now.
Last year when I was still nursing and very healthy up top and still trying to cover my tummy...I bought a maturnity swimsuit from Target...cheap enough since I knew I wouldn't be wearing but the one summer. It worked out great for me.
I highly recommend Lands End. Go to their website and they will have a suit to fit every body type. I don't think nursing suits are common (if they exist), but many pieces would work, I would imagine. I know I've nursed while wearing a suit before.

Lands End is a great place to shop from. I love their adult suit selection.
Sears has the Landends swimsuit line.
Its a great suit and it fits wonderful.
I just bought one and I can say I feel good in it even though my body has completely changed since my son. I also am not a pool rat and I have not lost the baby weight.
Goodluck!!!
Hi...when I was nursing last summer, we took a vacation to Florida. I ended up getting a maternity tankini to wear because the other tankini's were WAY too form fitting over the tummy. I got one from Target in the L. Lange maternity section and ordered one from BabyStyle. They were very comfortable, covered more and allowed room for me to lift up the top and nurse. Good luck!
Lands end...great suits...
Motherwear.com is a great site for what you're seeking. They have tons of nursing clothes, including swimsuits. Another option is to consider a maternity suit in a smaller size than what you'd wear pregnant -- just to give you that "loose" fit around the middle you're desiring. Old Navy might have one. I hope you find what you're looking for!
Congrats, by the way on your weight loss and beating cancer! You sound like an amazing, inspiring person. Your family must be so proud!!
I bought mine from Target last summer when I was nursing... They have all differnt styles and sizes...
I had a tankini that was a halter top, so the "girls" were easily accessible.... also... they had "padding" in the top so I was not worried if I had any unwanted leakage....
good luck!
Hi!
www.motherwear.com ! I have bought a nursing swimsuit from them and love it! I want to buy another one this summer as well so that I always have a dry one on hand. I am super-pleased with it, and very happy to not have to expose myself entirely just to feed my baby, even though I live in a very breastfeeding-friendly country (Norway).
As a plus, they have super service at motherwear.com. One woman used 30 minutes on the phone with me to help me find the right dress for my baby's dedication, opening up packages and describing the dresses to me in more detail than given on the website. I am so happy with them, and with their clothes.
Good luck!

www.landsend.com Land's End has the best swimsuits on the planet. They aren't cheap, but very worth it.
i have NO idea about nursing, but i am as well...i did however, get a catalog in the mail and was really attracted to the suits there...they are more like athletic looking ones, but have skirts and seem somewhat modest...
www.athleta.com
don't know what size you are, but there is an "outlet sale" tab on the far right and there were some really cute ones for WAY cheaper.

These are super cute, and totally conducive to nursing! :) I'm currently making one for my daughter, and a few of her friends, me and one of my friends (pregnant and will be nursing).
