coconut rum, pineapple juice, 7 -up and grenadine over ice - super good - you can dress it up with a ring of pineapple on the glass if you'd like and a cherry?
That is one of my faves!! I LOVE that drink!!
Hi Mamas! My friend's birthday is coming up next week and a group of us is having a surprise dinner party for her. She doesn't really drink alcohol, except super sweet drinks that don't actually taste like they have any alcohol in them :) So...do any of you have a great recipe for something like that? Thanks!!

My favorite sweet drink is a fuzzy navel. I keep my vodka in the freezer so that it's super cold (takes away some of the "taste"). I know this is lame but I really like Sky or Absolut for mixed drinks (don't want to waste a fine, expensive vodka with a bunch of sweeteners, and sky is a nice mid-grade, pretty cheap ($20 bottle) with no taste really. Super cheap stuff tastes like gasoline, and the really expensive stuff is best as shots. (Just saying that since she doesn't like tasting alcohol). Anyway: get a rocks glass and put in a little ice, then 1 shot of vodka out of the freezer, 1 shot peach schnapps, and the rest a good orange juice. (Bars sometimes taste nasty because they use cheap nasty oj). It's really good and refreshing, I think. (Too sweet to drink TOO many). I also love amaretto with pineapple juice (holy cow is that sweet but so nice). Then you can fry up some shrimp and then glaze it in amaretto in a little saucepan. That's good too. If there's any more amaretto left, bake with it into any cake recipe. :)
Several (used to be a bartender.) Here are a few of my favorites:
Sour Apple (aka Jolly Rancher)
measurements are per serving
1 oz Midori (or cheap Melon Liquer)
1/2 oz Amaretto
1 oz lime juice
Fill with a mixture of sweet and sour mix and sprite
Garnish with cherry and/or lime wedge
Surfer on Acid
1 oz coconut rum
1 oz Jagermeister
Fill pineapple juice
(can make in bulk and serve as shots)
Blue Motorcyle
1/2 oz Rum
1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Tequila
1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Blue Curaco
Fill with mixture of Sweet and Sour and Sprite
The best thing you can do for a non-drinker is make sure her drinks are served very very cold. Shots should be mixed over ice and strained into shot classes. Mixed drinks should be served over a lot of ice. Crushed is better. It tames the harshness of whatever alcohol is in the drink.
Yes, yes I do! Try this one on for size:
2 oz Three Olives brand "Bubble" vodka (smells and tastes JUST like bubblegum!)
3 oz cranberry juice
4 oz cream soda
You can serve on the rocks, or shake and pour straight up. Either way, equally delicious!
Pina Coladas (mix + ice + alcohol + blender)
Midori Sours (the recipe is on the midori bottle! For MtnDew lovers especially)
Chocolate Martinis http://www.godiva.com/recipes/recipe.aspx?id=364
-or-
1 1/2 shots Godiva® chocolate liqueur
1 1/2 shots creme de cacao
1/2 shot vodka
2 1/2 shots half-and-half
White Russian
2 oz vodka
1 oz coffee liqueur
light cream
((optional, ice+blender for French Quarter style)
Mint Juleps http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/sara-moulton/the-perfe...
-or-
4 fresh mint sprigs
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 tsp powdered sugar
2 tsp water
What about the Margarita buckets you add alcohol to & then pop in the freezer?
I can't stand the taste of alcohol but here are two that I like:
Sex On The Beach (there are several versions but here is the easiest recipe I have found)....3 oz each of pineapple juice and cranberry juice, 3/4 oz each vodka and peach schnapps.
Scrooges Dream...3 oz each of pineapple juice and orange juice and about 1 oz each of vodka and peach schnapps.
I also once had someone make me a drink that tasted and looked like straight pineapple juice but I "felt" the affects even though I couldn't taste it. There were four or five ingredients but I don't know what was in it. If anyone reads this and has any ideas, I would love to know what it could have been. It was good.
Your friend sounds like me exactly, I don't drink now, but I used to maybe twice a year...here's what I like,
Simple & sweet Pina Coladas:
Coco Lopez
Pineapple Juice
Ice
Rum (optional)
& blend it.
I used to make these for my kids minus the rum. Very sweet & good!
Just make any drink a virgin version.
Madras (YUM):
Vodka + Orange and Cranberry Juice over ice
Mojito!!! (PERFECT summer drink!!!)

WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT have any gin, whiskey (or whisky), tequila, or scotch! TOO much flavor - ESPECIALLY for someone that doesn't like to drink much.
A frozen watermelon martini! I am not a huge drinker either any more but a frozen drink made with fresh watermelon is yummy on these hot day!!! Let me know if you are wanting it or if frozen is not the way you want to go. I will send it to you.
You don't need a recipe! You need to go shopping! There is a product sold that is daiquri or pina coloda flavor, put in the blender with ice and you have a great drink. You really don't have to add the alcohol. I wish i could remember the name. Check your local market and ask!
Why not try virgin strawberry daiquiris? There are a lot of recipes online.
We just recently found one called a Dreamsicle --- tastes like a push up pop -- it is made with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka, orange juice and ice blended together!!! OMG it is amazing and I am not a sweet drink girl!!! BUt I will drink this all summer long -- and it seems like this summer is never going to end!!!

Pineapple juice and coconut rum. It's awesome. My sister likes to put some 7up and a splash of orange juice in it too.
Moscato wine is pretty sweet too.
BLUE BREEZE:
-HYPNOTIQ, MALiBU COCONUT RUM, AND PINEAPPLE JUiCE.
Appletini is great! It is really good in a sugar rimmed vodka glass.
My favorite:
Amaretto Sour
1 1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1 - 2 splashes sweet and sour mix
Pour the amaretto liqueur into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Add a splash or two of sweet and sour mix, and shake well. Strain or pour into an old-fashioned glass, garnish with a maraschino cherry and a slice of orange, and serve.
My niece made these recently at a family BBQ. Orange juicy fruity, but not boozy. YUM!
2 cans of frozen OJ
1 can of frozen Limeade
1 can of frozen Lemonade
3 liters of 7 Up
6 cups of water
2 cups of Tequila
If she doesn't drink, fix her favorite NON ALCOHOLIC drink. This might even encourage others that actually don't like to drink to feel like they have to just because everyone else is. I don't like the taste of alcohol either, so I usually just have soda, ice tea or ask them to make mine a "virgin" drink with no alcohol. After all, it is in HER honor, so ask what she prefers! Have fun!
