I'm superfit, formerly competitive body-builer etc. I have been noticing, however, that my V walls are getting extemely loose. I consulted and was told I have 3rd degree cystocele (spelling?) Does any one have any experience with this surgery. I'm 46, take no meds, eat well and have same menstraul cycle I have had since my teens. Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

My mom had the surgery about 6 years ago but now her bladder is falling back through the vaginal wall again. It's so frustrating and worries me becaue it will probably happen to me too so I've been kegeling my butt off :)
They just put a pesary (sp) in my mom rather than going in and pinning her bladder back up. It's like a plastic donut they insert in your VJ to hold everything in. Sucks to be a woman sometimes.

After reading about this it sounds much like a males double hernia operation.

Depending on where they cut, and I'm guessing it will be low, you'll find the hardest things are getting into a standing position, sitting up for long periods, and coughing are going to be rough.

Get a second opinion from a physician who will do a better job of explaining the cause and surgery. Some of these surgeries are done without an incision but through the vagina & bladder using "microsocopic" surgical tools.

Check out Mayo clinic web site they have great concise articles
Wishing you luck.

Have you considered physical therapy first? There are a handful of therapists in California who specialize in pelvic floor muscles and conditions like yours. I sent a patient to see Heather Jeffcoat once and they were able to postpone her surgery for over 5 years. And completely cured her daughter.

You can reach Heather at ###-###-#### or ____@____.com

She is in the Glendale area near Los Angeles, but perhaps she knows of someone closer to you.
