Hi C. - I'm 32 and I've been married for 8 years. I have a 15 month old son. I have several friends that have kids 2 years old or younger - all living somewhere in Orange County. I live in Tustin/Irvine - I work full-time - but I know several stay at home moms...give me a call whenever you get a chance. Thanks! E.

Look up MOMS Club online. It's awesome. You'll meet a ton of other mommies and have a calendar of events. You can do everything on the calendar, or nothing at all. Everything involves the kids except one night a month.... Moms Night Out. :) It only cost $25 a year. It saved my sanity!

I think Mom's Club is a great support group. Also check out some mom and me classes in your city. It's a great way to meeet other mom's and you could set up playgroups that way. Also another idea is if you want to get fit and meet other moms is the Stroller Strides, depending on where you live. You get to exercise with other mom's while pushing your stroller. As your baby gets older, look into MOPS as well. Mother of pre-schoolers. Good luck!

Hi Christina,
Sounds like we have a lot in common. I am 23, have a 9 month old girl, and also have no friends with babies. I go to UH Manoa everyday for a few hours, but have the afternoon and weekends off. My husband works until 5pm every night so i'm always trying to find things to do with her. I would love her to play with another kid her age! Have you taken your baby to the beach? Oh also, I live in Kailua so let me know if you want to get together.

Hi C.-
Check out this website for Moms. I joined this group in my area and have met some great Moms and their kids. http://www.momsclub.org/ See if they have a chapter near you. I also have a 7 month old and they coordinate playgroups for the different age groups. We are a part of the infant playgroup that meets every week and the pre-schooler group. Also, the Moms are great resources if you ever need advice. It is a very supportive group and fun to be involved with.
Good luck!

Christina,
I am part of Stroller Strides and LUNA Moms Club in Riverside. LUNA meets every Friday for playgroup at Castleview Park in Canyon Crest and Stroller Strides meet Mon-Fri. There is no charge to join LUNA and activities are organized weekly. We are always happy to welcome new friends into our group. The kids have lots of fun together and the moms are great. It's wonderful to have the support and friendship of like minded moms. You can get more info at strollerstrides.net/riverside and click LUNA MOM Playgroup. I don't think the schedule is listed yet but there is going to be a concert in the park for the kids in a couple of weeks.
Hope to meet you soon.

I can totally relate, when I had my first daughter, I was in the same boat. All of my friends that had kids didn't live near and my siblings kids were all older. I have made a lot of life long friends with kids the same age as mine, that are going through the same thing as me, through a group called Stroller Strides. It is so comforting to be with other moms that can understand and sympathize with what you are going through. It has changed my life, check out www.strollerstrides.com to find a location close to you. Take care.

Another vote for MOMS Club... you can look them up on the website momsclub.org to see if there's a chapter in your area. I'm a former member and always refer people to this wonderful organization. They are non-profit and do more than just playdates and are a fantastic resource - you'll meet moms with older children who can give you advice on the best places for kids and info on local pre-schools. Gotta think ahead!

I've seen lots of listings for local MOMS Clubs - where and when they meet, etc. in those parenting magazines (L.A. Parent, The Crayon Report, The Daisy Chain in my area) at Babies R US, Toys R US, the pediatrician and dentist offices, and other children's stores. Chapters usually allow a few free activities for new people to try and then you can sign up as a member for around $30. This is for stay-at-home moms but I think you can work less than 20hrs/week and still be a member. Check with your local chapter.

Also check out your local library, adult school, Junior Colleges or parks and recreation departments for "mommy & me" classes. They 're usually pretty reasonable (not to knock My Gym, the YMCA and other nice expensive facilities). I'm a SAHM, I live in Torrance, have 2 young boys in school (yeah, freedom at last... kind of) and grew up in the South Bay if anyone needs more info on this area.

I need a support group too. My son is 7.5 months old. I've been married 19 months. I'm a little older than you, I'm 32. Where do you live? And where would you like to meet? What parks are close to you? If the weather is so bad there's a great place on Robertson for people with kids to hang out.

Hi C.,

You have to check for Luna Mom's Club in your area. These are FREE, all-inclusive playgroups that are sponsored by LUNA and powered by Stroller Strides. Great way to meet moms and stay healthy and fit. They also send out a very cool gift and nutrition advice just for signing up online.

Hi,
I felt I had to offer another suggestion other than what has already been offered. I've been in the MOMS Club and the one I enjoyed as well was MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). It is a religious based group of women who meet once a week. Most churches offer this group. You do not have to be affiliated with the church or even the same religion as the church or any religion at all. It is a no pressure group religious group but it does offer very nice companionship. They offer speakers that discuss various topics based on families, marriage, children related topics and a craft at every meeting. While you're at the meeting they offer childcare so you can get to know the other women at your table and they also feed you breakfast. It's nice to have some free time and get to really connect with other women who are dealing with the same issues that you are. They also offer playdates and other various events. I don't know where you are located but I can let you know where I went and I loved it or you can look up MOPS on the internet and find one closest to you. Good luck in you efforts to find what you are looking for my email is listed below if you'd like more information.

Hi C.,

My kids are older now, but when they were little there used to be a Mom's Club Of Ojai. There would be many activities for the kids and play dates. Maybe you can check this out and see if that organazation is still happening and if not maybe you can start it up. It was so wonderful I met so many mom's and have had lifelong freindships.

Hi C.,
I hold a Mommy & Me support group at Mother's Guild on Thursday mornings at 10:30. There are a couple of other young mom's who do not have friends with children as well. So it might be a nice fit for you. Mohter's Guild is located at 2040 E. Main St. at the corner of Main & Catalina behind the bar-b-q restaurant in Ventura. Feel free to show up any Thursday.

Hi Christina. I am a mom of 3 kids and attend a group for moms at South Hills Church called MOPS. It stands for Mothers Of Pre-Schoolers and the ages of the kids are newborn or expecting to kindergarden. It is in South Corona. It is a great group of moms of all ages. We really have a great time together. You might want to check into it. Just call the church and they will direct you. You can even come and check it out. Mops meets 2x's a month on either mondays or tuesdays. Something great about it also is that moms with older or younger kids than mine have always been able to mentor me in my mommy job and I always feel great when I leave!____@____.com

I don't know where you live, but there will probably be a MOMS Club in your area. I'm president of our local MOMS Club and ours is great. MOMS Club is a non-religious group that supports primarily stay-at-home moms (but many are working part-time) of all ages and age groups (kids). They have weekly playgroups and monthly meetings and usually have other activities like club outings, MOMS Night Out, park days, etc. It's a really great way to network, connect and learn about being a mom. Great for making friends. If you can't find one in your area online, contact the International group and ask them for the closest one. www.momsclub.org good luck

They have one in almost every city.

Not sure where you are located but most Jewish Community Centers have mommy and me classes. They are for anyone not only Jewish people. The Long Beach JCC has one that meets on Wed. mornings.
