Looking for something to do with my time while the kids are in school. I was thinking to maybe work part-time we could always use extra money. But the hours when the kids go to school from 8am-3pm i would like to still be able to pick them up. I can only clean house so much, i feel like i have so much time that is being wasted i could be helping do something. I know when we choose to stay home with our children we kinda lose track of the out side world. My husband works full time very hard worker and good provider he's very good to both me and my kids the only thing is i know he feels i need to do something i feel very blessed that iam able to be a stay home mom and i know my kids love it. But for myself i feel like i could be doing more. When the kids come home it seem like there is so much to do but when they are not here iam trying to keep myself busy. So if anyone can give me some ideals i sure would like to hear them. Then maybe i can make a change for myself, happy mom happy home thanks

What can I do next?

Have you tried working at the kid's school? I find that it keeps me very busy. I make copies, cut things out, grade papers, and do just about anything that they need. It is a great way to stay really busy and to stay involved with the kid's activities. I may do that two or three days a week, and then that gives me the other days to get done the other things for the house and family.

WOW this is a working woman's dream, not to work.....go to a nursing home, library, MD Andersen, Texas Children's, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land and volunteer....that is what I would do, if I did not have to work. Your children need you at home when they get home, I know I was not able to stay home with mine....and know they would be different if I had of been there for them. If it is just friends or communicaton with other adults you need, there are plenty of ways to do that..go to a gym, Curves..go to your children's school, and volunteer, they are always looking for people to cut out things or color things or staple papers....start a stay at home mom network/club in your neighborhood...I am sure there are many other women feeling the same as you are, you are on a network now....I live in Stafford down the street from you so I know there are plenty of things to do in the area.

I am a mother of three girls...8, 6 & 2 1/2. I myself just struggled with the same exact situation. I had been home for the last 2yrs. For the last year of that time, my youngest had been in a mother's day out program Tues-Fri. I definitely started to lose myself. I went from being a workaholic to doing absolutely nothing everyday when my girls were at school. I really did not want to go back to work even part-time because I would lose the freedom of being able to get up and do whatever. I finally decided sanity was more important and started looking. I went to a staffing company to have them find something for me. I wanted a mindless job from 9-3 Tues-Fri when the kids were in school. I decided if the job paid well enough, I would even consider finding a sitter for my youngest on Mondays that her program was closed. I stuck to my guns on what I wanted and was able to find an awesome job. My boss was fine with me coming in only Tues-Fri from 9-2:30. He is very understanding as he is a single dad with 3 kids here from the UK. I do accounting for the company and he says that if the kids are sick, off school, etc. not to worry that I can work from home. I have been there 4 weeks and love it. As much as I did not want to go back to work, it was a very good thing for me (sanity and finding my old self). As you said a happy mom means a happy home (and you can't beat the extra spending money!).

M.,

Check out this great home business I found on Mamasource. It's free, there are no products to sell or phone calls to make and it takes very little time. All you have to do is send people to your website. I even signed my kids up so they would benefit as well. And I set up a website for them which is the website I tell people about. I couldn't see a reason not to sign up. Email and let me know what you think! www.mymagnolimall.com

Thank you,

If you're involved in a church, you could join a Ladies' Bible Study (even if you're not, you are welcome to join ours....we meet on Thursday mornings just South of Sienna Plantation). Also, there are so many opportunities in the area to volunteer if you don't necessarily have to have an income. I have done lots of volunteer work and it is so rewarding! I actually really look forward to the time when my kids get into school so that I will have more time for it. I can give you some more concrete ideas of places in the area that could use the help. Just send me a private message and I will share some ideas with you.

Last night, on my way home from work, I heard this news story on NPR and it really touched me. I don't know if you sew or not, or would be interested in sewing and/or volunteering your time, but this organization really made an impact on me. Mostly women who sew clothing for injured service members from all branches of the military and national guard to serve their unique needs. It's truly just amazing.

Just thought I'd share...

You may want to check out http://www.tentiltwo.com/. It is a website for 'Permanent part time jobs for parents. Flexible work hours. Part-time jobs, work hours that are flexible.'

My other suggestion is to apply at one of the kids school and if you don't 'need' the extra money, you could always volunteer at the school. They are always in need of volunteers for something. This way your time would be filled.

I work and volunteer at my kids' school and I love it. I know everything that goes on in the school-it's a great feeling to be so involved. Half the time the kids don't even know I'm there. Another option would be subbing.

HTH!
Good luck!

Me and several of my friends are also in that situation. One of my friends works as a sub at her kids' school. It pays decently, but it's not guaranteed all the time. They basically call you when they need you (although she gets called two-four times a week usually). You can also offer your subsituting services to other schools in your area, or close to your kids' schools.

I teach private music lessons, but I also make commission from my Ignite business (energy in a deregulated TX market), which I work during the day. It's pretty simple, you can check it out at my website, www.jennifersiler.ignitinc.biz.

I hope this information helps you!

Did you say you wanted to something part time and earn money and still be at home with your children. I am in direct sales (Jewelry Lady) and I stopped working to be at home with my children and I really enjoy it. I get to meet other women and make new friends. Please reply back if you want more informaion. They have a great marketing plan. I would love to sit down with you and go over the marketing plan. ____@____.com
