Since my son turned 1 a few weeks ago, he has been crying and fussy and just not himself. He doesnt have a cold or anything like that. Im not sure if he's getting more teeth or if he has allergies, though i dont see any symptoms, or if its just a phase he's going through. But its not like him. He was always very happy. He has his 2 upper and lower front teeth and i cant feel any others coming in, but could he be getting molars? He does like to chew on things and does cry sometimes in the middle of eating, thats why i though maybe his teeth hurt or he's getting new ones. Has anyone else had their sweet child suddenly go cranky all the time? Any suggestions? I have tried tylenol but it hasnt made a huge difference and dont want to give him that when im not sure what's bothering him.

What can I do next?

Hello,

My son is 12 months old. He too has become cranky. I agree with the other responses that teething may be the issue. But, I also think it could be a little bit of boredom at times. I think my son has just started to really need a little more stimulation than he had needed a few weeks ago.

I've been trying to switch up our routine a little to keeps things interesting. I feel like at least maybe that helps distract from the irritation of the teething too.

It also sounds like teething to me. My son's molars took FOREVER to come in...like 2 weeks before I even felt a tooth, then 2 more weeks after that. I used the natural teething tablets from Hyland's. They seemed to work well. We also used a frozen washcloth. He loved to chew on that. Hope this helps!

My daughter did this last month. She still has cranky moments. She does not have those molars in yet but they are under the surface still. My other kids had dentist appts and I asked about the first molars. She said they will come in around year old, after the 8 front teeth come in. I did notice my daughter's gums are a little swollen. ust waiting for them to come in. I used Little Teethers because it is alcohol and sugar free. I also gave her a little Tylenol during the first week or so. She is not as cranky now but she has her moments.

There's been a couple of times when my son got fussy and I thought it was teething or a new phase, and after a few days it got worse and I took him to the doctor. One time it was a sore throat, the next an ear infection.
You know your child best. If you feel like he's not himself and something might be wrong, it's worth getting it checked out.

It does sound like teething so I will share my favorite teething tip. Frozen minibagels. You must monitor him while he bites on them to ensure he doesnt choke on a piece but the consistency & size is just right for teething relief.
