Success with Weight Loss/toning up Using Xbox?

Hello, I was wondering if any of you had used an Xbox 360 program to get in shape, whether it's "Dance Dance" or some fitness program. I have heard from co-workers that some people have successfully lost weight at home from spending an hour a day on one of these games, but unfortunately, they could not recall which games these people had used. I thought it might be a fun way to lose weight, and it'd be safe for kids to join in.

Do you have any recommendations? A relative told me to try belly dancing videos on youtube, and my daughter could also join in. I'm not sure how effective belly dancing may be for weight loss/toning the body but if anyone has tried it with good results, I'd be willing to try that too, or any exercise DVDs, youtube channels, etc. you may suggest. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Honestly, any movement is good for you and can tone you up. Combine it with eating better and smaller portions and you are sure to lose weight and tone up.

If you have a Kinect with the X-box, or a Wii, I have liked the Dance Central and Just Dance games. Zumba Fitness is also good. Kinect Adventures is a kids game rather than a workout. All of them get your heart pumping and burn a lot of calories.

There are a lot of other ways to tone up without a gym membership. When we got a trampoline this spring, I went jumping on it with my 5 year old for about 30 min. a day and I noticed a difference in my leg muscles. I used my heart rate monitor and noticed it burns a moderate amount of calories. So does walking, jogging and hula hooping. Hop onto the fitness pages of Pinterest and you will see tons of links to online workouts or even just little pages that tell you a series of exercises to do for a great butt/arms/whatever.

My daughter does basic exercises daily like pushups, squats, crunches, jumping jacks, mountain climbers. She will do these for 30 min a day or so and she is starting to look ripped. She literally has a 6 pack. She just does these exercises while watching tv.

Also, Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred is a very good dvd and is only about 15.00 at Walmart or Amazon and you will get results from that one.

I lost a lot of weight playing "Dance, Dance Revolution" but I have bad knees and can't do it any more. Now I ride a recumbent exercise bike while watching netflix.

I have two Zumba disks. When I was motivated enough to use them daily, I could definitely feel a difference. :) (the Zumba Core is my favorite.)

Mine is used with the kinect, and has a two player mode.

Try getting some from the library and trying various ones.
That way you won't waste money on it if you don't like it.
The KEY to this, is finding something that YOU like, to do and will do, and thus, will continue with.

If you have Xbox, then you also have and can, have Netflix... and via Netflix, you can stream various exercise "videos" and try it.

There are SOOOOOOO many different exercise videos and types. It is mind boggling.
So, try various ones and see which on you, like.
Even if that is taking walks in your neighborhood or running.

No experience with XBox.

As long as you work very hard (so sweat and get uncomfy). Do the DVD 5 days a week for an hour. You will see results for sure. It takes a lot of work. I like the gym better but a DVD can be very, very good, too.

I haven't tried any of the work out videos, but I find what works for me is walking around the neighborhood with 5 pound weights in each hand. I do arm curls while I walk and play music or podcasts from my iphone while I walk. I walk 2 miles every day (with the weights, it's a great calorie burner and tones my arm muscles.
