Stuffy Nose - Austin,TX

I'm not following "suctioning her nose with saline drops" - but I'll assume you've tried saline, and you've been suctioning.

This won't help today, as the only place I know that carries it is online. This is what we used after friends showed us.

You can also get some baby vicks to rub on her chest, and we also use the vicks vapor thing (looks like a teeny tiny vaporizer, but just has menthol soaked tabs you insert).

Other than that - not old enough for anything. Just keep wiping the nose for a couple days and it'll likely go away.

Elevate the head of her crib at night, saline drops, cool mist humidifier in her room at night.....

I'm not following the "suctioning her nose with saline drops" either. You spray with saline, wait for a few minutes, then suction with an bulb syringe. All bulb syringes and saline drops are not created equal either. I like the bulb that little noses makes and we also have a nosefrida which works pretty good too. I prefer the Simply Saline baby brand for saline spray.

PLEASE do not ever give your child a medication like Zyrtec without talking to your doctor first. Zyrtec is a great medication, but I don't know of any doctors that would recommend giving it to a 3.5 month old baby.

All of the answers given are great and will help you a lot. If you don't have a humidifier or vaporizer you can also go in the bathroom, close the door, and open the hot water in the shower. Sit with your baby on the toilet or a chair, and let that vapor coming from the hot water help her out. You can do this throughout the day for about 20-30 minutes.

if its allergy related you can give her a little bit of Children s Zyrtec . I give it to my son for about three to four days as needed. I do not give it to him daily.

You can also get the Little Colds brand chest rub and put some on her chest and feet and it will help too, along with elevating her crib mattress. I put a pillow underneath my son's crib mattress.
Also humidifiers help.

During the day open up a window and get some fresh air through the house and that will help clear the air out too.

Using a cool mist humidifer always works when we have stuffy noses in our house =)

Using bulb suction, you might be able to get some of the phlegm out.

Using Vick's Vapor Rub (or any generic brand of this menthol-based ointment) can be highly effective -- do rub some onto her chest, not right under her nose. If it helps, she will be breathing better almost right away.

Do keep her hydrated; fluids in her diet helps to thin out the phlegm.

Keeping her head slightly elevated encourages the phlegm to drain into the throat instead of getting stuck in her nose.
