Okay ladies I need some help or advice my husband is laid off at this time and I am the primary bread winner right now. Since my hubby is unemployed he is currently staying home to care for our children however; I have a desire in my heart to stay at home and care for my kids. I can't stop thinking about staying at home with my kids!!!! My husband is supportive of the idea but he first needs to seek employment. I thought I had a plan for me and my family but that just shows God has other plans for me and my family. What I mean by that is when we got pregnant with our youngest son I paid off all the extra bills such as loans and credit cards so I can care for my children and as I returned back to work from Maternity leave to give my 2 week notice my husband was laid off and so now I am in a spot where I have to work!!! I am heart broken and he really wants to work and I really want to be able to stay at home full time with my little ones. Any advice will help!!! I know there is not much you guys can do or say but I have to see what other thoughts are out there to help me regain some peace of mind!!! Thanks in advance for all the responses!

Hi V.,
Please keep in mind... I am not preaching to you… this is the same thing I often tell myself :-)

You just have to trust that God’s plan is the perfect plan! It isn’t always easy to live with or understand but it is what we were meant to do. Isn’t is awesome that he prepared you by paying off bills so that you are not in a financial mess right now?

Be thankful that you have a husband that supports and loves you, children that are healthy and a nice home to go to every night. E-mail if you want to... I also wish I was home and not at work right now!

E.

V.,

I completely understand. My husband and I decided while we were engaged that I would be a homemaker and he would support our family. (I always worked part time just for fun, but my priority was the family and household) Needless to say, after a military injury and classification as unemployable, meaning his health does not allow him to work a full time job, I went to full time work. It has been a struggle especially since I still maintain the household, care for him, and work, but I know God needs me to be where I am. Consider the opportunities that God has for you to be a Christian example and a witness to your co-workers. I've learned to "be" in the moment not in the tomorrow, we miss things if we focus on what will be - not what is. Fulfill God's mission in this season of your life, obey the things He tells you to do, and before you know it things will change. He knows the desires of your heart, He hears your prayers, He will honor them when your mission is complete. Phillipians 4:4-7

I feel for you. I have no answers - but do empathize with you. 3 days after our son was born, my husband was laid off. I went back to work last Monday and he is staying home with our 2 month old. It breaks my heart. I hope you find a solution that brings peace to your heart and home.

To give perspective, I work part time & would love to work fulltime! I've worked full, part, and just at home. Even if we didn't need the money I'd still work. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

I know it isn't easy at any time in life. My husband was the provider and through health issues the last year and a half I have had to step up to the plate so to speak. Do hot resent the fact that you have to be the breadwinner. Yes, it is nice and wonderful to be at home but sometimes you cannot. Go with it and find joy in the workforce for now. Soon you will be able to return home and enjoy that life. Yes, it is nice to watch the first step but you have watched and witnessed the first step let hubby experience that right now. Learn to live a outside of the box so that you will be stronger in all areas of your life. I don't mean to sound mean or anything but what if you didn't have hubby there you would have to do it all. Just plan a to do list and do it bite by bite and it will get done. Keep your faith in God and it will work out. My dream was to leave the workforce in a year or two but now that may be in five or six as the banks and economy allow. Good luck to you. The other S. PS When my kids were little I worked and stayed at home but preferred to work outside the home.
