Strange Tummy Pain/Endometriosis (Maybe?)

Has anyone else experienced this? I have pain, bad..makes you sick to your stomach, Advil doesn't help, only on the left side...kind of pain that happens around my period and when I ovulate. I have seen my gyno and had a sono, they said my ovary looks fine. He has referred me to a surgeon and my appointment is over a week away. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue, what did it turn out to be, what did you do for the pain. It is really debilitating and I have a pretty high pain tolerance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Still don't have an answer as to what is going on. I did my visit to the surgeon and he said he couldn't feel a hernia (that is what they were checking for). I am hoping to get lap band surgery next month so the surgeon (same guy) said that while they were in there, they would take a look around. In the mean time, I am hugging my heating pad a few times a month and cursing my ovaries...or maybe my colon - hehe

I was refered to Dr. Howard (in Carrollton, near Hebron and Josey) by my RE. He says he is the authority on endo in the metroplex. His website is: http://www.wfhoward.com/ and I found him to be very personable and caring... and his staff is great.

I hope you get some relief soon!

I am guessing that it is PCOS because what you have described is the same pain that I have and I can understand how badly it hurts. If your ovaries did look ok on the sono then maybe you did have some and they ruptured, which I can tell you hurts like crazy and also for a little while after. An anti-inflamatory is going to be your best bet for pain until you can get to your next appointment. Good luck.

I had the same symptoms awhile back and it was ruptured cysts. I too had a high pain tolerance and these things sent me into orbit they hurt so bad. I'd get a second opinion from another gyno before meeting with a surgeon.

HI. i really can't say what it is but it could be alot of differant things. IF you think it is endo, then it might be. I had if about three of four years ago but i had been going to the doctors office very often due to horrible menstal cramps and bleeding finally my doctor ask if i had these symptoms: heavy bleeding, cramping, hurts during intercourse, feel like you have to have a BM but you really don't have to,and i think the last one was if you were trying to have a baby you could not get pregnate. i think those were all of them. Well i had all the symptoms except for the baby part cause i was only 18 or 19 but because of those symptoms i had a laperoscopoy and a histeroscopy. all he did was make 2 little incisions one on the right and left side of my abdomen, and one incision right below my belly button and the was it plus i got it all on tape. for the histeroscopy he went in vaginaly and looked at my uterus. all in all i was up and around the next week. so if you do have to go through it it is not that bad.

I've got the exact same thing on the my left side. I let it go on for about a year thinking it was just ovulation pain or something, then finally went to an endometriosis specialist and found out I have endo, mostly on my left side around my ovary. I'm going in for surgery next month hoping to get some relief from the pain. It can't hurt to go to your OB to get checked out. I regret waiting so long to get the diagnosis.

I used to have pains like that, because I had cysts on the ovaries each cycle.

I started progesterone because my hormones were off-balance and now I'm not having issues anymore.

Hello P.,

any chance of any digestive problems? colon pressing on your uterus? etc? I'd definitely get an official diagnosis before seeing a surgeon. does it happen after eating specific food?
Good luck! ~C~

I can always tell when I'm ovulating because I have a terrible sharp pain in my abdomen. It's worse when I ovulate from the right ovary, but I also can also feel it on the left, it's just not as bad. It lasts about a half a day and then it's gone. 3 Motrin usually take the edge off for me, but it comes on quick and it takes a while for those pills to kick in so I know what you mean about the pain. I've not yet had mine checked out. I'm afraid it's PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome sp?), but I don't know for sure of course.

I had a friend many years ago who always had pain when she ovulated, but particularly when it was on the right side, and the doctors could never find anything wrong with her.

Try not to worry too much until you know something for sure. It could turn out to be nothing. Good luck!
