Okay, today has been really hard for me...well it started this week but has gotten worse. I'm almost 35 weeks with my first child and have been having terrible stomach discomfort that seems to be caused my constipation and nausea. I've had a hard time eating today and just feel terrible. Is this something I should call my doctor about? I took some zofran which I have on hand for pregnancy nausea, but it's not helping. Should I just take some Metamucil or Miralax and eat a bland diet til it passes? Tonight, I've been only able to down a few saltines and some ginger ale. It is keeping me from sleeping due to the discomfort. Seems the baby is very mobile right now too. Should I be concnerned?

ETA: Called the dr and they want me to come in this afternoon for their earliest opening today. Leaving work early to do so. I hate that I have to do that, but I guess it's better to get checked. They did not seem to think it is early labor but want to check everything out to make sure there's nothing high risk going on. I will update when I know more. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It is just bad constipation. On suppositories and an enema if that doesn't work and lots of fiber!

I'd go get checked if I were you. The stomach discomfort can be a sign of early labor. You need at least 2 more weeks of having that baby inside of you, and I just wouldn't take any chances.

Please don't feel that you'd be putting anyone out. They would so much rather you be safe than sorry, and there not be a huge emergency facing them.

Keep us posted!

I felt like that for two days before I delivered my oldest dd. It was the beginning of my labor. You definitely need to let your doctor know.

I also was unable to get comfortable laying down to sleep. I wanted to sleep so bad that I ended up sitting on the couch with several pillows stacked high enough on my lap that I could put my head on. I slept like that for two nights.

insurance should have 24/7 care
have you tried some tums.. they have become my friend about 11 or later at night. Lay on your side, put heat on it if that feels good... have lower way lower back up down by your tailbone. Message me if you would like. Hope you feel better.
Just a few more weeks!

I was constipated all along my pregnancy. My midwife recommended I take an OTC stool softener, which I did pretty much every day and that helped. I can't recall the brand, but you can just ask your doctor about it... Even on the phone. You have to make sure you stay hydrated as well, dehydration will make your constipation worse.

Stay away from laxatives though! Those are not recommended for pregnant women!

If you can keep it down, watermelon, bran cereal and prunes should help as well.
Good luck!

Things started slowing down for me at 36 weeks. The constipation kicked in, and my stomach is super uncomfortable. I don't suffer from nausea after the first trimester, but stomach discomfort...oh yes! Sleep has totally stopped, and I wake every 1.5 hours to pee, and because of being uncomfortable.

And heartburn kicked in at week 37. The last month can be really uncomfortable.

I'd talk to a nurse or someone about the nausea.
