Last Monday, my 2.5 year old came down with the stomach bug. She already had a cold and then developed a fever which has since gone away. She still has diarrhea, but has since stopped throwing up, besides when i tried to give her advil this morning. Tool her to the doctor this week and she also had an ear infection. Poor kid. It's been a week and she still looks miserable but seems better after she goes to the bathroom. She complained one of her eyes hurt this morning. Could this be from the ear infection? She is on omniceff. The eye thing freaked me out. Any suggestions?
My son once had Croup.
He also then had an eye infection.
It was the Croup, as well, in his eye which got affected.
And he then had to be on antibiotic eye drops for 10 days.
Take your child to the Doctor, for another... follow up... since she is getting more symptoms and different symptoms.
The omnicef could be causing the diarrhea....... not sure about the eye problem.
(Gastrointestinal side effects have included diarrhea (15%) ) .... that came from a google search of omnicef side effects....
Is she in daycare? How long has she been there? What did the doctor say? Ear infection/eye hurting could be also sinus infection. Also, could be allergies which is high right now in our area. If eye swells up or with green mucous, take her to the pediatric eye doctor.
Sinus pain, that's most likely what's causing the pain. Try a decongestant. I buy real liquid children's Sudafed from my local family owned pharmacy. Big stores don't order stuff for individuals.
I give the kids half a dose. They just don't need more than that.
Sinuses have goo, that goo has to go somewhere. When there is congestion the goo gets stuck, dries up a bit, causes some discomfort, has to get out one way or the other. Sometimes it's green or yellow drainage from the nose, sometimes it goes down the throat (gagging them all the way) and causes tonsillitis or a sore throat or puking, other times it drains out the ears and causes a massive ear infection. The thick goo can even drain out the eyes so it looks like they have pink eye or some sort of eye infection. But it doesn't come from the eyes, it comes from behind the eyes, ears, nose, throat, it comes from the sinuses.
