Hi,I am due in June and since I hear all the stories about how expensive diapers are I am going to buy as many as I can with gift cards n gift money I am receiving. SO my question is what brand are diapers are the best? I am buying the white cloud ones from walmart because they are so much cheaper and I heard generics were good, any thoughts? Also how many packs of a particular size is too much? How fast did your babies switch size? Any tips will be great.

What can I do next?

I guess I just disagree with everyone else. I am also pregnant and have been buying diapers since I found out. I did the same thing with my four year old daughter. You can't be too prepared!! I also buy the white cloud from Walmart because I think they are the best ones out there. I used them with my daughter and I never had leaks or other problems. I would just take the ones that didn't fit anymore back to Walmart and trade them in. Simple as that. You are doing the right thing by buying them now that way you are not worrying about the money when the baby arrives!!

I would advise not to buy too many diapers. As April said, you never know how quickly your baby will grow. With both of my children Pampers worked best for them. They're pretty inexpensive and they work. The best thing to stock up on is Baby Lotion and Powder. You can never have too much. My children are 6 and 3, I still use them both!

God bless you and your hubby and the baby!

Hi, Maria - Congrats on the new baby! I wanted to let you know that some babies are sensitive to certain brands of diapers, and you really won't know this until you try them on your baby. So I would hesitate to stock up on just one brand because you might find out they give your baby a rash! My daughter could only wear Pampers - any other brand (Luvs, Huggies, store brands) gave her a rash at the waist band. My youngest son could NOT wear Pampers but he did okay with other brands. The Pampers "dry weave" (I think it's new) really irritated his skin and he ended up with a rash that looked like a waffle pattern (similar to the dry weave pattern) whenever we used those. So it's going to be trial and error when you actually have your baby. I'd suggest having a few packs of Newborn size diapers (not too many - they grow out of those very quickly!) and several packs of size 1 in a few different brands so you can decide what you like best. And then maybe put the gift cards or $$ in an envelope and call it your "Diaper Fund" and put it away for now. Then when you decide on the best brand for your baby, you can go buy more. But that's just my suggestion! I'm a mom of 4 (ages 5 and under!) so I do have some experience with diapers. :)

I just had my first baby...a boy, and I have been experimenting with diapers. My boy is very petite so it was hard for me to find diapers that fit properly. He started out with pampers swadlers. They are very soft, but the would leak sometimes at night. He now wears huggies (newborn) during the day and pampers (size 1) at night because the larger pampers do not leak. I have tried white cloud, as well as the target brand, and they work ok, but they are not near as soft. I'm new at this stuff too, but I hope it helps.

Ok, first of all, my experience with my 3 babies was that generic diapers were horrible for them!! They leaked ALL the time. I used to buy luv's. Back when my oldest was a baby, they were quite a bit cheaper, and worked just as good as the others. Secondly, QUIT BUYING DIAPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STOP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no way to tell how fast they will grow out of one size. NO WAY!! Every baby is different. With my first, I went and bought like 5 packages of the newborn size, right? I thought I was SOOOOO smart. Well, she weighed in at just under 10 pounds. THOSE DIAPERS NEVER FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a package or so of diapers ready for the arrival, hang on to all the gift cards and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and buy them as you need them. Just be careful not to go blow it all, and then there is none left for diapers!!! Good luck to ya!!!
