Stocking Stuffers for 9 Month Old

They have these cool light twirly things at Target in the Christmas gift section...by the holiday gift food stuff.
Little cars...maybe a movie, a small book, a toothbrush...these are the things that I am getting my 7mth old.

One idea - you could give him a "special" toothbrush (i.e., a toothbrush with a Sesame Street character, a car). This is especially helpful if he doesn't like having his teeth brushed; my 21-month-old twins are more cooperative if they like their tooth brushes. Hope this helps!

How about some books? such as the cloth kind you can buy or some small board books? I bought a couple at Jewel yesterday. One as about tractors and the other was called "Touch and Feel Christmas." And then maybe a small toy or some socks or baby slippers or something?

BTW, I see you are a part-time tutor. Do you tutor out of your house?

NOW gifts, (like others have mentioned) ....

and add a LATER gift or two:

a keepsake, like a baby's first ornament, (either dated with 2007 or a picture frame, where you can add a photo of them now and put it on the tree after he pulls it out of his stocking), a small book or stuffed animal, an engraved rattle or spoon, something very special that you can keep and pull out years later and reminisce with them.... xo

My son was around the same age at his first Christmas. I stuffed his stocking with some bibs, baby food, arrowroot crackers, bitter biscuits, santa slippers and a stuffed Santa toy. At that time (two yrs ago), I found everything at Target. I'm sure they still have simmilar things this year.

I bought for my 5 mo. old daughter a chew-proof (slobber proof)book that you fill with 5 or 6 photos. I plan on putting family photo's in there of all the people she is familiar with...Mommy, Daddy, Sisters, brother and grandma and grandpa. The book itself is very bright and colorful! It's made by the Baby Einstein Co. and cost $6.99 at Target. I also know that Sassy Co. also makes a version. Babies love to look at pictures of people they know! It stimulates their little minds. The book will fit perfect in a stocking!

I have given them baby snacks. Like Gerber Graduates Fruit snacks or something like that! My kids don't get candy until they are much older. My four yr old will get a "snack" again this year! Have fun with it!!!

How about some of those Gerber puffs? They come in a container usually, but I think I might have seen them in little travel packs, too...and they are pretty soft and dissolve right away, so I think they would be okay for a little one.

The toy connection in crystal lake, on williams street, (and also in barrington, has these really cute little characters by Tolo. The individual ones are more affordable than the toy sets. You might check amazon too.

I second the silverware idea, great gift to grow into. Oneida makes a set, probably available at penney's.
Target and I imagine everyone else has little photo frame ornaments from $2-$15 with 2007 on it. Or you can upload a photo to shutterfly, walgreens, sam's, costco and have an ornament with his/family picture made.
When I was a baby my mom made me a dough craft teddy bear ornament and painted it. I still have it, though now it is preserved since it is starting to flake. Women probably tend to hold onto sentimental things more than men, at least in my case it's true.

Last thoughts, a small kolo paper photo album that you can add photos too from this holiday, and write in some thoughts. Who you spent the holidays with, etc. They range in price up to $10 or so. http://www.kolo.com/shop/products/?cat=17 I've seen them at archiver's. You could easily make your own.

last year, my daughter was 7 mo old. we filled her stocking with gerber puffs, a "who loves baby" photo book (got it at target), a sippy cup, a new set of spoons, and a little stuffed elmo.

What about baby proofing things? We did that for our son. Bath toys like others mentioned. Toys for later. Snack cups, books, socks, shoes.

A new pacifier...if he uses one. Utensils, spoon and fork, for when he starts to use them.

I like to go to the dollar store and just look for whatever might fit in, toys or whatever else you can find. You can always get things he won't use until this summer if you are having trouble finding stuff for now. I got things like slippers, socks, small board books...and it's cheap:)

How about Little Einstine video's. Educational and good family time for him.

I didn't do a stocking for my son's 1st Christmas but now I have the same issue as you -- trying to make sure the little one has a stocking like the older one. My daughter is 8 mos. Her stocking will have a rubber ducky, some small books (board books and a fabric book), a little bead chaser toy shaped like a monkey, a small set of colored wooden blocks and a small box of cheerios. If you're thinking food items you could get those little travel sized tubs of teddy grahams or just put some of whatever snacky type thing you let him eat in a small container. Wash clothes or bibs with a favorite character would be a good one, too.

I have a 9 Month Old too, so these suggestions were very helpful for me as well! I'd already planned on the gerber puffs ( the puffs taught him how to pick up bites and eat independently) and some bath toys since he's graduated to the big bath tub and LOVES to play in the water. I also am getting him a warm fleece hat and some socks. Baby books were a good suggestion and I love the idea of getting him a simple "keepsake" item. This is a tricky stage though because he's mostly going to be interested in the wrapping paper!
