Lemons work wonders. Also bleach helps! Also , if you try a combo of sea salt & lemon juice it makes for a good abrasive to break up whatever is stinky.

Hmmm i might be inclined to have a plumber come out and take a look... could have something stuck in the pipes that is rotting. I have always used lemons (or Pine-Sol prior to kidlet) and it works to scent things up nicely.

As gross as this sounds - try feeling around, all over in there. If there is something in there that the disposal won't grind up, it might be rotting in there. This happened to me once, and it ended up being a chunk of chicken fat I had cut off a breast. Why the heck did it even end up in there?! Who knows! LOL I probably wasn't thinking and just did it by force of habit. You could also try use some "Plink" balls (little yellow, lemon scented balls made especially to clean garbage disposals). Good luck!!

I second the vinegar and baking soda suggestion. It really works, not just on garbage disposals but all drains.
Pour 1/2 C baking soda in disposal follow with 1/2 C vinegar. Let it bubble for a few minutes then flush with boiling water. You can repeat if necessary.

I agree with the previous poster - if lemons and baking soda aren't working, I would call in a plumber to see what else is going on. Lemons or dish soap have always worked for me.

I hope it's fixed soon!

At my old apartment, I used to use ice. And it was really really nasty. What I did was shove ice in the drain until no more fit in there. Put something over the top of the drain so that ice doesn't come shooting out, but you can seal the drain. I turned on the cold water and the garbage disposal and waited til the ice was gone. It worked so well that I did this often even if I didn't smell anything. I also heard that lemons and salt work. But I would think you would need a lot of salt. I'm not sure though. Good Luck!!
