Hi-
We recently bought a new booster car seat for our 2yr. old. He has figured out the seatbelt system and tries to take it off while I'm driving...and he succeeded, taking it off today I tried scolding him, but he just thinks that it's funny and laughs when I scold him. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

my idea would be to pull over and not move the car if he unbuckles or even to take him strait home and (if you can) leave him there while you run erronds. tell him the reason he can't go is because he keeps unbuckling his car seat. give him a chance every few days. i'd also give him a reward (just something small when he stays in his car seat. hopefully you can get him to stay soon.

When mine started that trick I did a "brake-check". I tapped the brakes, just enough to make him jerk in his seat the first time. The next time I did it a little harder, and so on until they got the message. I also started saying no when they wanted something telling them that if they wouldn't obey then I wasn't going to give them what they were asking for. (Usually a special treat.) Good Luck and God Bless.

I would purchase a booster seat that has a 5 point harness in it. My 4 yr old still uses his as he is still under the weight limit to use just a booster seat, I think 40lbs is the number. Your two year old could also be doing it to get a reation from you but safety is very important. Maybe try explaning or read a book on car seat safety. HTH

A 2 yr old child is NOT old enough for a booster. Check your messages, I've responded privatly with some suggestions and questions for a new seat. :)
