I don't know M., but I am with you, I think that most jobs out there to work from home are scams, I started my online baby business almost 3 years ago, and to this day I still can't to quit my day career.. I will think that there are many opportunities out there for lawyers, look into large companies who may not want to hire full time laywers, you may be able to do consulting for them. Please do be careful about things that are mainly advertised online, especially when they ask for money before they tell you what you would be doing. I am trying to build income as well along with my part time job as a commercial real estate broker, which I have been for 5 years (used to be full time). One thing that has also helped for some friends and myself is a new hobby we started doing to make extra income. My chiropractor told me about it when my husband lost his job. I am able to do it while out running errands. I enter car tags into a database. Then I tell others about it. That's it. No products, no services to sell. I can write them down with my 16 month old in the car. A completely legit company in TX has created a way to store information to help find missing children and those who have stolen cars or failed to make their payments. There are lien holding companies that have leases with the company (CSI) and pay for the information. I have already received multiple checks. I told a couple friends, then they told and so on. Yes, like multi-level or Arbonne, only no products or services. Just 10 tags a month per person (easier to grow your team that way). I'm working on my 4th level of people (which makes about $1,000 a month). If you can complete 5 levels, it is $4,500 a month. The income comes from each tag entered (not from each recruit made), the more people on your team, the more you make per tag. If you don't want to do sales, please don't listen to anyone who says to give one of those companies a try like Avon or Pampered Chef or whatever. Yes, they are reputable companies with great products, but the idea that you just have to have a passion for the product and they sell themselves is a bunch of hooey. You have to be a good salesman in order to convince people to give you an audience (ie host a party) and you have to invest your own money to buy samples and things like catalogs and order forms.

If your children are in school, why not look for a part time out-of-the-house job where you can drop them at school and be done in time to pick them up? I have a work-from-home job right now because I have a toddler. I like my job a lot but it is very, very, very isolating to work from home and I am counting the days until he reaches kindergarten when I can get an out-of-the-house job!

I don't have any recommendations but I do have consultant experience with direct sales companies. There isn't anything to be afraid of them being scams as long as you are joining up with a reputable company. You don't really need to have selling experience with them but you do need to LOVE the products whether it be skin care, home decor, or kitchen stuff. Another thing you need to be able to do is partake in small talk. I've come to realize that I don't do well with direct sales because you HAVE to be able to talk to complete strangers - in the grocery store, at the park, gym etc. People that I know who have done well love to talk to anyone, anywhere. I do not, so I don't do well once I've exhausted all my options with people I already know. You know your personality type so you know whether this is something you are able to do.

Wow. You've gotten a lot of different responses here. Working from home has been a god-send for me and my family. Working with a Direct Sales company has been a huge blessing for many reasons of which they do most of the work and I just share what I like. I also get to incorporate other things that are important to me such as women's health and teaching them how to take time out for themselves because I didn't when I was a mother with younger children. You need to look into direct sales and with those companies that are associated with the DSA.

What is important to do is to find something that appeals to you, that you use and love. Mine is natural-based skin care products (see my 'ad' at the bottom of this page for Sensaria) that the whole family can use. What makes 'my' company different is that we don't ask you to purchase more products to start your business, we give you everything you need in your 'business kit' along with all of your business tools to get you started, a website, ordering software, all training is free, etc. so it all depends on what each company offers. With Sensaria there are no minimum requirements each month, no inventory, no deliveries.

When someone says, "but I am not a salesperson and could never do that' I just ask if you have ever told someone about a movie that you saw or a restaurant that you went to. It is the same thing - women share what they like and don't like and that is it. So all I say, is take a look around, and go with what your gut says and don't be afraid to try something. If you have nervousness, it may really be just excitement. It may also be exactly what you needed.
