Stain Remover for Baby Food

I have started feeding my infant son solids. We started with carrots and squash. Of course the first few feedings were very messy and his clothes were covered in food, despite using a bib. I sprayed them with oxyclean and washed them the next day, but the clothes are still slightly stained. I don't want to have to run a load of wash every time I feed him...any suggestions about a product I can use to treat the stain that will allow me to wait a day or 2 before washing?
Thanks!

I use Zout foam. It gets put most of my kids stains, strawberries, grass, ketchup, and baby food. I get it at Wal-mart. I put it on as soon as possible and can leave it to wash for a couple days.

I love the Spray 'n Wash Stain Stick. Just rub the stain with the stick and you can wait up to a week. It did really well for me with baby food stains if I treated the stain right away.

The Shout Advance in the blue spray bottle works well. Biz is also great. You can use the powdered kind and add liquid laundry detergent to make a paste and put on it. Biz also comes in a liquid now too. I haven't tried that yet, but I'm sure it lasts just as well. You can also soak the clothes in a small bucket with Biz overnight.
You may also want to look at Babies R Us. A few months ago I was able to get a bib that tied in the back, is long enough to cover my sons entire shirt and it has long sleeves! It is great! Good Luck!

Hi E.,
My mom always used WISK and had put it in a little like water bottle that she could squeeze out small amounts directly on to the stain. After a few years of trying to do it my own way ;), I realize she was right all along!
I rub the WISK into the stain and let it sit for a while, over night if I can, and then everything comes out!! I've tried the shout stuff and the oxi clean too, wisk works SO much better! Even on old dried in stains usually.
Blessings to you and your family,
Amanda

they have a specific spray out now for baby stains, it is sold in the baby section at our walmart. my daughter uses it and has ahd excellent results. However she sprays after the feedings and then again before washing the items. it is a bit more costly then other sprays but still cheaper then replacing clothing.

Get a bowl or small bucket w/warm water and add oxiclean. Soaking is the key--the longer the better! The stains will just disappear. If you still see them, scrub lightly with a fingernail type brush or old toothbrush then put in your washing machine. I've been using oxiclean for 7 years and 3 kids and it gets out any food stain for me--you may just have to soak it! Good luck!

Try tide on the stain then let sit for a day and then put oxi clean in the wash with the normal amount of tide for the load. It took oil off jeans.

I have absolutely no suggestions for stain removers. I have a lot of stained up clothes from my own two kiddos. I will say though that I know a lot of moms that just take the shirt off of their baby until they are finished eating. That eliminates the problem and is perfectly doable in the summer :)
Good luck

Dreft spray is amazing. We managed to get a ton of poop out of a mostly white sleeper (granted, there was some soaking going on before we sprayed it, but still!) and we use it on our own clothes too. The stuff's great.

use cold water, it should have come out with a stain remover and washed in cold water. When my kids were babies I washed all their clothes in cold water just in case I missed something without stain remover. cold water gets a lot of stains out by itself. I has a shout stain stick at the changing table and whenever I changed them I would pretreat the stains right away and put them in the laundry basket. I didn't wash them everyday and most stains came out.

I have had good luck with Shout ultra gel (the one with the orange scrub brush on top). It even removed stains on clothes that had been washed & dried many times.
We also used the bibs with the long sleeves & they are awesome, but our son's pants still needed stain remover.

God bless!

Biz works wonderful (powder or liquid). I am also going to try the Zout since my son has been getting some really intense grass stains on his pants this spring!
Good luck!

I was disappointed with OxyClean and now use spray n wash with great success. I use it and don't have to do the laundry right away. Those foods are great but very messy! Good luck.

I've seen OxyClean, Zout, Shout Advanced. I use them all, but not at the same time. I normally use OxyClean spray first, after I have run the clothes under water, and lightly scrub with an old toothbrush. I also use a scoop of the powdered OxyClean for babies in the washer. Then I check the clothes as I am hanging them up after they're washed. If there is still a stain, I go with Shout Advanced, while the clothes are still wet. I just fold the clothes over onto the stain and let it sit a couple of days until the next load. It's a rare occasion that a stain doesn't eventually come out.

Another trick, rinse from inside out. That way you are not forcing the stain through the material.

I am OxyClean's biggest fan! I will say that what works for me is to soak the stained items in a bucket of hot water with the OxyClean POWDER. The spray is good for a small spot, but when it's major, the powder is the best way to go. Sometimes, I would wash the item first and then soak it in the OxyClean powder.

I started with the baby Oxy, but the other works best and I just make sure to wash it out with regular baby laundry and an extra rinse cycle and didn't have any problems with it.

GOod luck!

My ALL TIME FAVORITE product is the Baby Oxyclean. I've only been able to find it at Target and it comes in a small round container as opposed to the normal big block of the regular Oxyclean. I love this stuff because it DOESN'T fade your kiddos clothes, it REALLY DOES get all the baby stains out, and you can let it sit in the solution for a couple of days and keep adding stuff to it and it will work! Just use a larger bucket and 2-3 scoops. Definitely use hot water to activate it but if your stuff calls for cooler water, just let it cool down a little before you add the clothes. Only thing I've EVER found that consistantly worked!

Put some baking soda and water (or baking soda and laundry soap) on it, then wash as normal, and it will be good as new! It really does work.

I always have had really good luck with Zout (with a Z). You can find it with the other stain removers. I have found it even removes baby formula stains!

You can soak them in Biz water. Make sure you at least wash the bibs and clothes by hand in the sink as soon as possible.

I love All's stainlifter.

I use it as a pre-treatment with a little water if the stain's really bad. Then, when I start the load, I let it agitate and then stop it and let the whole load soak overnight. Re-start the machine in the morning and let it run as usual. Sometimes I have to repeat. Just don't put still stained clothes in the dryer (it sets the stain).

There is RARELY a stain that doesn't come out completely doing this. It's miraculous.

I'm with the others who recommend Zout. It works great!
