Dawn dish detergent works great on things. Martha Stewart did a show on how to care for fabrics. The laundry detergents, all have information on getting out stains.
Good luck,

I was wondering if anyone can help me get a stain out of a satin christening dress? I think it may be spit up.

Our Christening gown is fifty years old. and throughout the years many infants have worn it. So needless to say there have been stains on it. hen we3 took it to the cleaners they suggested to soak it in Cold water with dish washer machine powder already disolved. It worked wonderfully. Good Luck!
I was able to get out a spit up stain on a beige dress with Nature Bright from Shaklee. You can check it out on my web site www.shaklee.net/oneplanetoneopportunity
Try wetting it and putting it in the sun. The sun lightens many stains naturally and it works great on many of our white clothes.
My now 6 yr old daughter wore a similar white dress for a family wedding, being the flower girl. She managed to get a few food stains & dirt spots (from her shoes) on the dress. I used the Magic Eraser, & the whole dress shined like it was never worn. My wife thought it had been washed.
I have found that the tide to go pen works wonders. That is what I have been using on all of my kids dresses that are dry clean only. It has gotten out stains that I didn't realize were there at the time and were in the closet for months. Hope you get your stain out.

Hello!
I was in the same situation only my stains were formula (I have twins) and I didn't find them until about 7 months after the fact! What I did was soak the garment in water and added a little bit of OXYclean. I did this till the stains were gone. I am not sure what type of fabric you have but I know onxy clean is really gentle. I have gotten chocolate ice cream stains out of a linen blend dress that was dried in the dryer.
You might want to just check that you can was whatever fabric the christening dress is made of to make sure you can soak it. Good Luck!
Carbona makes products for all sorts of stains; they're very effective and usually in the regular grocery/drug store. Good luck!
I use "soak the impossible". It is a one to one ratio of these 2 products.

Soak for 1-7 days, then wash.
I have seen it save antiques tablecloths and I used it to get tie-dye marks (that had bled onto other clothes) off of khaki pants & baby pink sweat shirt that had already been through the dryer! (only required one day of soaking)
& it's non toxic! :)

I have had excellent luck with Shout Advantage even if the stain is really old, like in over a year old. Let it sit overnight, add a good detergent like Tide to it and scrub them in together then wash it. If that doesn't work after 3 tries then use Grease Lightning.
