Spotting Before Period

Hi Mommys. I was wondering if anyone out there has had a similar problem, and if you were able to find a way to improve it. I have a 23 month old daughter, she is my 3rd. I exclusively breastfed, and went without getting my period for an entire year. Ever since it has been back I have been suffering with spotting, sometimes as long as 2 weeks before my period is due. I went to my doctor and they did an ultrasound and found nothing wrong. I was told it was horomonal and I tried the birth control pill to fix it, but it actually made it worse! I stopped taking them and things inproved for a month or two, and then it started happening again. I also tried taking 100mg of B6, which only helped temporarily. Im not trying to concieve, but this is increadibly annoying and putting a damper on my sex life. (This also happened to me after my 2nd, I ended up getting pregnant with my 3rd and that was what stopped it last time) Through research I have also read that Red Raspberry Leaf could be helpful, as well as Vitex. Has anyone tried these remedies?? (I am still nursing my little one 2x a day) Any other advice would be greatly appreciated... I am at the end of my rope! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Well congratulations on keeping up w/ Breastfeeding! I hope you get some good replies, I don't have any advice but I went w/ out a cycle for a year also. After a year I started B/C pills and I finally had one but I stopped using them after half a month and it hasn't been back since and I only nurse 1x a day now. Weird I guess, but I hope you find a solution. It may just take your body awhile to get back on track. I'm assuming mine will once I stop bf altogether.

I suffer with the same issue. I think it's been about 20yrs or so now . My obgyn told me it was normal for some women. I still haven't gotten used to it." It sucks".

I just weaned my 22 month old and experienced the same thing from time to time after I had her. I got my period back around 4 months because she started sleeping 5-6 hour stretches at night around 8 weeks. My guess for the spotting was that it just had to do with the hormones given that I was still nursing. And yep it was annoying! I would bet that once she weans and your body gets back to "normal" it will stop happening.

This happens to me. I just deal with it, I'm not trying to "fix" it. I was told by my Gyn. that it was my hormones (I also used to breastfeed- apparently there's a connection). I personally stay FAR away from anything like birth control pills or any thing that messes with my body or hormones. I haven't tried alternative medicine for it because it isn't THAT bad to me and doesn't seem to have any effect on my sex life. Also, I've noticed that with time it gets less often. I believe it will eventually just go away on its own. I had four babies in five years (my last I had a year and a half ago), so I just figured I'd give my body sometime to "recover" and "heal"...

Sometimes things like this just need some time.
