My son is about to turn 10 months in a few days and ive been thinking about his first birthday party and I have no idea where to possibly have it. My parents say to have it at our place but we live in a apartment and I dont think there would be enough room. I was thinking maybe McDonalds for his first birthday or maybe even Chuck E Cheese, but still not sure. Any ideas?
1st bdays are for adults, so think about what you would want to do, keep it small so he doesn't get overwhelmed.
With the gifts, I recommend opening them later after the party a couple at a time over a few days. Take pics of each as he opens it and has time to enjoy it, and use those as thank you notes. Opening them all at once at the party is awkward for everyone, especially baby, they don't know what's going on...
What about at your parent's house? We are having my son's first bday at our house in a couple weeks. The main thing for me for a first bday are the pictures. My 3 year old loves to see the pics of his first birthday party. I love the pics of them with frosting everywhere:D I am just having friends and family, a nice little food spread, a ball pit for the babies and just some nice music for everyone to listen to while visiting/eating. Low key, but cute decor and yummy food. I think a McDs etc party is better for an older child who actually cares about such things. At one, they don't really realize it is their party, even though they have lots of fun. Good luck and have fun!
You can always make it at like a party room or a hall...I had my sons 1st B-Day at a party room and it was nice because it was only $100 for 4 hours and it also had a kitchen that we could use...I served carne guisada, rice, beans, & potato salad & for refreshments we had tea for the grown ups & punch for the kids. We also had cake, cupcakes, and pan de polvo for dessert. My sons theme for his party was toy story and we also found him the woody outfit for him to wear on his big day...he had so much fun! One thing to keep in mind is that even thou its there 1st b-day u dont have to go all out...there to young to remember and plus sum children tend to get fussy around alot of people at this age! So i would jus say keep it small and simple and have fun while doing it all!
Does your apt complex have a club house or entertainment room ?
But the birthday party is really for the parents and the friends. So if there is older kids and friends then maybe CC would be a great place.
I go all out for birthdays. They are so much fun and love to scrapbook them after. We did an ON the FARM theme for my one child and a rubber ducky theme for the other one. One tip.......we got helium balloons, gave each person on at the end and let them go for a celebration at the end. There was 40 + going up in the sky...... it was so cool to see.
Unless you have a lot of friends and family with young children, you can have it at your apartment. Just keep it small. If you are looking for more space, McDonald's is a good idea but not my favorite (it's usually chaotic at places like that). Don't spend the money on Chuck E. Cheese for a 1 yr old. Although, fun for kids. Adults have to keep an eye on their little kids and no one ends up talking (too busy chasing kids) and it's usually a mad house. It sounds like his bday is in March. ?? It should be nice in Corpus. Have it at a park and bring BBQ or tacos! Then the adults can have fun together, with more room, and the kids have a place to play.
I would save McDonald's or Chuck E Cheese for older kids. C.E.C. is a loud chaotic mess, so I wouldn't do that until I HAD to!!! We had a 1-yr-old party at the house, but if your house is too small, and it's not too cold, you could do it at a park, or if it is cold, do your parents live nearby? Or do you know a friend well enough who might offer her house? You don't need to go all out for a 1-year-old--it's more for the family (and the kids' photo albums) than it is for the 1-year-old. We got a spiral sliced ham from the grocery store (cheaper than Honey Baked) for our daughter's party and had some noodles on the side with a fruit or veggie tray. My daughter's favorite foods were ham and noodles at the time. I had a few crafty things for the the older kids to do, and that was it. I made cupcakes from a mix. Pretty easy. Good luck!
McDonald's or Chuck E Cheese may be too much for your son. If there are older kids, they may want to stay and play when your son is done. A place where other kids might be can also be distracting.
I agree with Jen that you ask your parents about their place or another family member or close friend. The size of the place really depends on who you have coming. Other kids? Just family? Will the weather be nice? Do your parents have a yard?
We had Christmas at our house and it is small. There were 3 kids, ages 1, 2 and 3. Since I no longer have toys around, I got out some big boxes and the kids had a blast climbing in and out, turning one into a tunnel, changing the flaps, drawing on them, putting tape on them, etc. You just have to find something out of the ordinary and use the space you have. Crafts are fun for older kids.
