Hey I was just wondering what some of you have used to take the edge off? My husband is unemployed and the search for a job has been tough and frustrating. Just the day in and day out stress and worry has gotten me down and I want something to help so Im not frazzled by the time I Get home and can enjoy my family instead of wishing it was closer to bed time. I've looked into SAM-e and St. Johns Wort but Ive heard that SJW can interfere with Birth control and I do not believe I am in a situation to add another to our family. What are some natural methods you have used to just help with the day to day stress.

What can I do next?

I use meditation and positive thinking to help me through the stressful times. If you focus on the negative more negative things will be drawn to you. If you focus on the positives and the things you want, you will draw more positive and happy things to you. Try getting the book or movie The Secret from your local library. I read my copy once a month and it has helped me tremendously.

Make it a GREAT week!

I have found the easiest, most efficient way to boost my mood, and stave off depression is simply to walk.

I have a treadmill in my basement which I often walk on while watching the a.m. news (before the house wakes up, at 5:30 or so), but you can even jump rope (surprisingly good exercise that can be done *anywhere* and *anytime*).

The exercise boosts the seratonin released by neurons in your brain. Seratonin impacts mood and depression, and is impacted by prescription meds like Zoloft & Prozac.

Hang in there, things will swing back in the right direction!

S.,

Yes, 30 minutes of exercise, including walking, can positively impact the brain. Two other things that can help are lavender essential oil (to calm) and lemon essential oil (to uplift mood). I only use doTERRA essential oil because it is the only certified pure therapeutic grade essential oil available. E-mail me to learn how to use essential oils effectively.

Blessings,

My doctor just told me today that 30 min of exercise is better than Prozac etc, because exercise releases more serotonin into your system than a 100 Prozac pills (crazy, huh?). I know that is the hardest thing to find time for, but he said to just do it. Good luck. I completely understand what you are going through.

I just agreed to run hills with my sister in law to get my own exercise started. I'm already dreading it. :) My thoughts are with you.

Hi S., I have been there and may be again in the near future. We are looking at a lay off date of Sept. right now. Looking back some of the things that were helpful when we were young were: Putting the kids to bed early and spending time with my husband sitting outside visiting and sipping a coke,(sometimes I would set the clock ahead 1/2 hour) a warm bath with some bath salts in it, remebering to count my blessings, admiring my strengths as a woman, also my ability to keep things happy and uplifting,(sometimes I thought if I took off my shirt a "S" for super woman should be tatooed on my chest) don't get upset over the small stuff, (be willing to step over the bread crust on the floor and know it will all get sorted out eventually) Wash your sheets and hang them out to dry and smell the sunshine when you go to bed at night, I guess lastly is, this may actually end up being some of the happiest memories of your marriage. Eating way too many potatoes and beans and being so happy just to be with the ones you love the most in the world! Knowing that you did it together and did not let lifes ups and downs pull you apart. You can do it! K. K.
