Hi there!

Has anyone tried the Medela SoftFit Breastshields? Are they truly better than the standard ones made of hard plastic? I'm using a Pump In Syle system that is 5 years old, and wonder if I should be looking at the newer equipment out there? Have there been any major advances I'm missing out on?

Thanks all!

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone!

Given the mixed reviews, and the fact that the hard shields get the job done, I'll stick with what I have (the hard ones).

Still curious though whether I'd like the soft ones more!

YES!!! For best results I switched back and forth between the SoftFit and the XL shields (and WHY they don't make the SoftFit in larger sizes is a mystery!)

I THINK I have the softfit from a manual Medela pump, but the electric pump came with the hard ones. I thought I was going to have to find a way to get the softfit, but after using it, I've had no problems and don't feel it is necessary.

I bought the softfit shields in addition to the ones that came with the pump and ended up preferring the normal hard plastic shields...

I have used both and prefer the hard shields. I felt like the soft ones didn't seal as well and leaked milk while I was pumping.

I use the SoftFit ones and I love them! They do tend to warp over time, but I find them more comfortable than the hard ones.

Simply put YES!

Imagine putting something soft and gelly like as your shields or the hard plastic you previously had. Think about a think version of the silicon bakeware they have everywhere. So that vs. Hard plastic.

Yes the new ones are worth it a million times over. They feel a million times better than hard plastic on my breasts.

Been nursing for 9 months now.

I haven't used them but thinking of the hard plastic ones, I would for sure try the soft ones in a heart beat! I didn't know they even made them!
