My son is 4 months old. his ped. didn't have me schedule a 4 month checkup..only the 6 month...should i call and schedule one? i know that they have a second dose of vaccinations during the 4 month checkup or do they just do it at the six month one?

I agree with Katie. I think it was just a mistake. Your son is too young not to be checked on every few months or less. It's not just about vaccinations, of course. Growth, questions you may have, and what she/he can prepare you for developmental wise, in the next few months, etc. It's all important. Call and find out for sure. I would.

I would definetly call and schedule one. They get shots at 2,4 and 6 months. You don't want to fall behind in them . I actally think they get 4 shots and an oral one at 4 months. Did he just forget to have you schedule it, or did he say that you don't need to come back until 6 months? If it was the 2nd one I would find a new ped.
R....SAHM to Jim (4 yrs) and Jack (6 months)
I have a 3 month old son also, we were told to get a 4 month check up. They also get shots at 4 months....call and make the appt.
I would get him in to have a well baby exam at the least. Some pediatricians believe that vaccinations should be spread out due to more recent concerns of how they affect the baby's immature body. The "schedule" is to have another round at 4 months, but there may be a very valid reason your doc wants to wait. It is important to have him weighed, measured and checked just to see how he's growing, if you have any new concerns, etc. Good luck!
You need to schedule a 4 month check-up. There are vaccinations to get, the need to check growth and things. There are also a few things developmentally that need to be checked.
it's usually pretty normal (that i'm aware of) that you go from 3mo. until 6 mo. w/o a checkup unless there's a need for it. any immun. will be given then.
It is totally up to you. If you feel it is important, you should go. We don't take our children to ANY well baby visits, since we don't vaccinate and a five minute check up from a doctor isn't going to catch very much. Because of this, if you have any specific concerns, you should definitely bring them up.
I am not sure of exact times but well baby check ups follow the same course as immunizations, This site breaks it down pretty easily.
Maybe it was just a mistake. I would call and make an appt just to be on the safe side.
I would definitely call and have him checked out at 4 months.
