Skin / Nerve Pain??

I have had a long history of back pain, surgeries, OT, PT, chiro...
I also have been having "skin pain" with no rash that appears about every few months to a year. Different parts of my left lower body have burning sensations and sometimes tingling and numbness. It is very weird and I can't figre out what is going on. It eventually goes away on it's own after a few weeks, but in the mean time it is very painful. Any ideas??

What can I do next?

J. - if you are open to a different chiropractor, I would highly, highly recommend a chiro in Eagan. They are very different and deal with issues in a much different manner than the normal doctor or chiropractor. My father has utilized their services for post traumatic stress syndrome as a result of his stroke. Actually, people fly in from all over the world to seek treatment from this clinic.

If you are interested, let me know and I'll get you their contact information.

Good luck,

If you can stand the idea of it, this sounds a lot like the onset of MS... at least, the same symptoms a friend had for years before ending up in emergency because she couldn't walk.

It's a spinal tap, to test... expensive and not painful to have, but gives you a whole-body headache that can last a week.

Better to know, maybe?

Have you had a recent spine MRI? Possibly MS??? Scary and probably NOT what it is, but MS symptoms can really vary and can come and go. Just something to consider the next time it happens. Did these symptoms happen PRE-back surgery or post?

It's possible that the baby is pressing on your spine and this is effecting the nerves in the spinal column.
But I would also talk to your doctor about MS and ALS(Lou Gerhig disease). Yes it's scary, I have been there. I woke up one morning the week before Christmas (2006) and had no feeling from the hips down. I was in the ER 3 x the week before Christmas and of course couldn't work. I went through a battery of tests and it turned out that I have a particially herniated disk that must have shifted and was pressing on the nerves. Then suddenly about 3 weeks later it was gone and I have been fine since.

It could have something to do with the pregnancy. Hormones do weird things. Could be the baby is pressing on the sciatic nerve. During one pregnancy of mine my leg would go totally numb and I wouldn't be able to walk for at least 5min. This happened more frequently as the baby grew. Hang in there and talk to your doc at your next ob appt.

I would like to recommend Aloe Heat Lotion for the pain and I would also like to recommend Aloe Vera Gel along with the Aloe Vera Gelly. I suggest you go to www.foreverliving.com to learn more about those two recommendations
