I am wondering if anyone else has ever had this rash. I get it only when I am pregnant or when my hormones change ( ie changing birth control). It's called HG and its extremly rare - I have never had Pups but its different I know that - I am looking for any ideas if you have had HG or any other nerve wracking itchy rash that keeps you up at night about easing the itchiness. I have tried everything allowable by doctors from benadryl to witch hazel concoctions to aveno oatmeal baths - just wondering cause right now I wake up every two hours in the night and put ice packs on affected areas of my skin. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

I too am pregnant with my 4th. I have had very bad rashes on my legs with all of of my pregnancys. I'm sorry I really don't have any idea how to stop it, but wanted to let you know you are not alone. Ive been taking benadryl and puting lotions on also but they never work for very long. I have torn my legs up so bad, scars and scabs from the scratching. If you do find anything that works please let me know. I am due in Jan so dont hove very much longer to wait. It is driving me crazy all night every night and I feel where you are coming from. Again sorry I didn't have any advice but again wanted to let you know you are not alone! Also it is really good to know that I am not alone in this!!

ok, i have no idea if this would help but when i had poison ivy (a crazy itchy rash too...) the burts bees poison ivy soap worked wonders! you might give it a try...

also baking soda paste, or a clay masque might help.

hope it gets better soon! good luck...

Hi there,

I also had this and it was terrible. My doctor gave me Zyrtec and it was gone in about a week. Zyrtec is fine during pregnancy but not during nursing. My son is fine and didn't suffer any weird affects. Have you tried this? Good luck!

I had pups while pregnant with my first. I used Aveno bar soao and SArna non steroid cream while pregnant. It has menthol and eucaliptus (sp)in it and was cooling and stopped the itching. I have used the Sarna for other rashes too.It is an otc cream.

That sounds so uncomfortable and is interfering with your sleep! I hope you can find a solution. Try drug store hydracortizone cream and a cream with zinc oxide (such as diaper cream). Hopefully the combination will provide itch and rash relief plus healing. Also avoid any soaps and lotions with artificial fragrance. Essential oils such as lavendar and tea tree may be helpful. Use very gentle cleansing products. Avoid the chemical Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate. Try your health food store or online for good, natural products. Good luck!

I had a fungus on my arm which itched incredibly. Even when using an anti-fungal cream, I could not get rid of the itch. So I came up with my own mix to ease the itching. I just mixed vinegar&water (1:1), added a little peroxide and to make it pasty, used baking soda. It took care of the itching while the rash was healing.

Yes, I had it during my 2nd pregnancy. Words cannot express how awful it is, and I'm so sorry you're dealing with it. I never imagined a simple rash could be so uncomfortable.

My dermatologist finally prescribed prednisone for me. It's pretty strong, so I didn't start taking it until my 3rd trimester...I was due in May, too, coincidentally! I was really nervous about taking it, but I was desperate. It started providing relief almost immediately.

If you're considering something like this, I can assure you that my daughter is perfectly healthy. She's 6 now, and smart as a whip...nothing gets by this child!

A few of her baby teeth had a problem where the enamel didn't form properly. I always wonder if it had something to do with the prednisone, but her dentist says it's hard to say...sometimes it just happens. Her permanent teeth appear to be just fine so far. Other than that, though, she is completely healthy and perfect.

Good luck to you. I pray your rash goes away on it's own...quickly!

I suffer from another illness, severe skin allergies that also give me a rough night trying to sleep. There is only one thing that works for me. I take a large hankercheif and put plain uncooked oatmeal in it. I tie it loosely and drape it over the water spout. All the bath water (which is never hot always almost warm) runs through it and I soak in the water before I can go to bed and actually get some sleep.I have used this for the last 2 years, after many of suffering. Hope it helps you.
